Fighting Capitalism With Hobo Pederasty

What happens when intersectional Marxism tries to intertwine labor, class, sexuality, and a dash of feminism?

     Hobosexuality.

This is according to an associate professor of women’s studies at the University of Victoria.  The abstract of her published paper “Mapping the hobosexual: A queer materialism” is a word-salad of intersection Marxist drivel:

“The following article introduces the hobosexual as a concept in queer materialism. Mapped at the intersection of not-for-profit hobo sex and labor practices historically, the hobosexual collapses the apparent impasse between the material and the symbolic so prevalent in queer studies. The concept represents the redeployment of queer as anti-capitalist practice; highlighted are the non-normative hobo practices of nonproductive expenditure, but also the recognition that these abnormalities are organized by capitalist systems of normalization designed to engender profit. The article also considers the degree to which industrial capitalism affected both hobo mobility and hobo anti-capitalist practice in the 19th century. Generated out of hobo history and queer as anti-capitalist practice, the hobosexual represents resistance to capitalist systems of normalization and enables connections, not necessarily between identities, but between anti-capitalist practices generated out of difference.”

A full word-for-word fisking of any academic paper invoking Marxism and/or intersectionality is impossible due to the vast majority of such writing being mindless fluff and jargon intended to give the illusion of non-idiocy.  However a highlight of the main points of nonsense will be enough to demonstrate the gist of the paper: Hobos fought Capitalism by not only being hobos, but using other hobos as masturbatory aides… especially with little boys.

“In mapping what I call the hobosexual, I am in excellent company”

Yah, the jokes write themselves.  Continuing on, Tapley is so bold as to admit that “the hobosexual, in other words, does not represent every hobo, but a partial truth of hobo history”.  But what is that “partial truth”?  That the hobos were explicitly smashing Capitalism.  How?  By engaging in “not-for profit practices of sexuality”.  What does this mean?  According to classical Marxist doctrine “expenditures” are divided into “profitable expenditures” which are limited to making money for plutocrats to swim around in like Scrooge McDuck in his money bin, and into “non-profitable expenditures” which apparently includes hobos getting sexual gratification from other hobos.  This apparently also involved “queer Marxist feminism”.

Tapley whines about the “privileging of sexuality” by the focusing of “gay history” on modern urban Gays, rather than on those vanguards against Capitalism, the hobo.  The focus on the hobo, then, is a focus of how they were created by Capitalism and paradoxically both agents for Capitalism and smashers thereof.

She seems to ignore that these hobos were “an ‘aggressive’ type of ‘work’shunning’ transient” in the opinions of the time, and chalks that up to oppressors saying oppressive stuff.  Her rational?  “Expending without profitable goal, hobosexual practice resists the determinate donditions that manage heteronormativity and the capitalist work ethic.”  Ah, intersectionality… because of course: “Locating the hobosexual at the intersection of queer/anti-capitalist sex and work practices accentuates both the temporality and partiality of the molecular”.  Yes, in order to seem smart she uses chemistry terms like “molecular” and “molar”.

Of note, she mentions that a reverend, writing in 1877, notes that many of these transients were war veterans of the Civil War.  To any sane and rational person, this would suggest what we today call “post-traumatic stress disorder” is the cause of their inability to hold down a steady job or to have a family, rather than some insidious scheme by plutocrats to get more money for their money bin to swim around in.

Of course such sensibility is tossed outside the window with the idea that the “tramp… is feminized for his own apparent lack of the pursuit of profit – the primary purpose of capitalist citizenship”.  There’s that intersectionality again!  Of course, the intersection systems (i.e. the “Kyriarchy”) would elevate maleness and oppress feminity!  It’s almost as if she started with the narrative and picked out a pseudo-random piece of history in order to force that piece of history into the “correct” narrative.

The most disturbing part is the natural acceptance of hobos practicing pederasty with boys.  “The tramp/hobo and the boy are relabelled ‘jocker’ and ‘prushun’ in this relationsship, and once on the road, each ‘prushun… is compelled… to let his jocker do with him as he will.”  Tapley even notes that one explanation for this is due to “because there is ‘one woman for every one hundred men on the road’.  This is much like what we see in prison today: Lack of women results in the stronger using the weaker as masturbatory aides.

She admits that “[s]ame-sex, intergenerational, and commodified nonproductive sexual expediture is well documented by hobo and gay cultural historians.”  In other words, hobos were fighting Capitalism by engaging in “nonproductive sexual expenditures” with youth.  She claims this is due to a “phallic economy” and goes so far as to legitimize pederasty amongst Gays and lesbians noting that “same-sex, intergenerational and commodified [sexuality]… represents a prehistory to gay and lesbian identity.”

Perhaps the most bat-s**t insane thing she claims is that the creation of hobos by Capitalism was all part of a plot to deal with… erectile dysfunction:

“Medical science, then, produced the bourgeois male as the only body capable of suffering from the nervousness that accompanied life in the fast-paced city and the only subject capable of the will-power and reason to overcome the disorder.

“…

“Preoccupied with the loss of bourgeois sperm and middle-class reproductive capacities, medical researchers aided in not only transforming sperm into a commodity fetish, but in producing a system of normality that connected proper procreative sexual practice to masculinity, masculinity to proper labor practice, and perpetual labor to sanctioned sexual practices.”

So, Capitalists created hobos as a means of dealing with their erectile disfunction, but were then assailed by those same hobos who fought to smash the eeevil Capitalists by raping little boys.
