Firing Line Friday: The Irish Problem

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

With the question of Brexit being the single most important topic for the U.K. during this month’s elections for the European Parliament, that there is even an election in the U.K. for this well after three years after the U.K. voted to leave, one of the potential sticking points is the question of Northern Ireland.   It is less about sectarianism than the influence of authoritarian/totalitarian ideology. Interesting, then, that Buckley’s interview with Bernadette Devlin McAliskey in 1972 seemed to indicate that what was old is new again…

     Until next Friday.
