Firing Line Friday: Texas Politics

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

How much has politics in Texas changed over the past fifty years? A lot! Let’s see just what Texas politics was like half a century ago with William F. Buckley, Jr., Frances Farenthod, Beryl Milburn, Ronnie Dugger.

     Until next Friday.

Politics fifty years ago were just as dirty and hateful, and Buckley putting lipstick on a pig did not make politics more civil or a standard to abide by.

It was a masterful device to avoid calling a pig a pig and helped allow the Marxists to gain power while throwing those opposed them out of the Republican Party. Buckley was one of the worst individuals in the GOP. Doubt it? He was one of those who pushed for the return of the Panama Canal.

What a chinless wonder. Contrast him to his father and see why money makes individuals weaker, lacking moral fiber, and unable to confront the harsh realities of truth.
