Firing Line Friday: Proposals for Welfare

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

It can seem that the Left in America has been perpetually winning all battles to some. The idea of a European Welfare state where everyone gets free stuff would not politically fly in today’s political environment, but half-a-century ago it was what America was seemingly heading towards and it was heavily debated over by William F. Buckley, Jr., Richard Skinner, Margaret Young, Jeffrey Stafford, and then Gov. Jimmy Carter (who was, relatively, a moderate in the Democratic Party).

     Until next Friday.
