Quick Takes – Oppressive Flag, Oppressive Song, Oppressive Logo

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Thought Crimes!

Remember when Liberals fought for free speech and the right of everyone to express their views, even to the point to being able to torch Old Glory in an orgy of hate?

Now that the left has power, they care not for such “Liberal” arguments.  Why, in this brave new world of ours, you can torch the Stars and Stripes with impunity, but woe to those who dare to fly that grand old flag!

An apartment complex manager told a resident that his flying of the American flag was threatening to Muslims!  She stated:

“While the Lodge on El Dorado admires our resident’s patriotism, we must enforce our property rules and guidelines. Such guidelines maintain the aesthetics of our apartment community and provide for the safety of all residents. The apartment community already proudly displays our country’s flag in a safe and appropriate manner at the entrances to our community.”

What an evil racist White supremicist he is… wait, his last name is “Tran”.

     So much for racial H8!

Apparently a nearly 50 year old song is evil incarnate and a tool of oppression wielded by… Trader Joe’s???

An article over at the cesspit of insanity (i.e. Alternet) describes how the author was at Trader Joe’s (hardly a paragon of right-wing anything) when she heard an most evil song: “Under My Thumb” by The Rolling Stones.

Clearly she understood this to be a kyriarchical method of oppressing womyn everywhere!

She clearly doesn’t mention that the song is about a man who has been under the heal of a harpy of a woman, with said song being about poetic justice of her being under his thumb for once, where before he was under hers.

But hey… anything for a narrative of patriarchical oppression… from half a century ago!

What could be even more evil than a politically incorrect flag or song?  Why, a football logo of course!

     The trademark office declared that:

“We decide, based on the evidence properly before us, that these registrations must be cancelled because they were disparaging to Native Americans at the respective times they were registered”

This, despite the fact that Navajo Code Talkers, who are deserving of nothing other than utter respect, have no problem with the name.

But then when our modern day INGSOC declares something to be doubleplusungood… then it is double plusungood, right?

     Sigh
