Quick Takes – Mis-gendering – Mis-gendering Students; Mis-gendering Classmates; Mis-gendering Compromise

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Mis-gender all the things!!1!

First, a little education on how to be cis-normative:

     Carrying on…

Apparently it is illegal in the U.K. to refer to a person by pronouns associated with their biological sex…

“A teacher who was accused of ‘misgendering’ a child was told by police that she had committed a hate crime.

“The teacher, who claimed they were a ‘grammatical purist’, refused to acknowledge that the pupil self-identified as a boy and failed to use the pupil’s preferred pronouns of ‘he’ or ‘him’.

“It comes after warnings that schools are ‘sowing confusion’ in children’s minds by over-promoting transgender issues, and that children are being encouraged to ‘unlearn’ the difference between boys and girls.”

     Doubleplusungood.

Students, as well, will be called out for their doubleplusungood beliefs…

“A student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been barred from attending a religious studies class required for graduation after pointing out that there are only two genders.

“‘Later this week I will be defending myself and my FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS in front of the Academic Integrity Board (AIB) of the Indiana Univ. of Pennsylvania (IUP) against allegations of Classroom Conduct violations,’ Lake Ingle stated in a Facebook post, which was deleted after Ingle retained legal representation.

“‘The decision made by the AIB that day will determine whether I will be able to continue participating in my full course load, as well as graduate this May as scheduled,’ Ingle continued, adding, ‘This is not transgender, woman’s rights, or wage issue. This is about free speech and the constant misuse of intellectual power in universities.'”

Even the truth is transphobic, or something…

“I can acknowledge that gender dysphoria is a ‘persistent aspect of humanity,’ but I will not concede that gender dysphoria trumps biology, and I don’t think our culture should cease efforts towards ‘ending’ the dangerous notion that men or women should amputate healthy organs in the quest to sculpt their bodies to become something they’re not. Gender dysphoria may not ‘go away,’ but transgenderism is something else entirely. Our culture is in the midst of a live and important dispute over the very nature of biological reality — and over the psychological and spiritual health of hundreds of thousands of precious souls — and now is not the time to abandon the field.”
