Socialized Healthcare: Rodents Eating Your Face

The quality of socialized medicine is yet again demonstrated in Canada:

“A patient immobilized in bed, waking up to find mice eating her face.

“It has the makings of a health-care horror story — Friends of Medicare says the night-time ravaging by rodents left a Lethbridge senior nursing minor wounds to her face. And it could have been so much worse.

“‘She’s immobile — she couldn’t even wake up and shoo these things away,’ said Sandra Azocar, executive director of the health-care advocacy group.”

Isn’t just wonderful when altruism is the only thing standing between your health and a swarm of face-eating rodents?

     A little mood music:

Update: A report contracted by Alberta Health (who ran the nursing home) has indicated that even through a nest of rats was found and there was a bedbug problem, the nursing facility was deemed to be still “sufficient.” The report also indicated that two doctors found that the facial wounds were not caused by mice, but that they had “found a different reason for the wounds”; the explanation for the wounds was censored.
