At an East St. Louis anti-gun rally, the final speaker spoke out in favor of handing over, to the United Nations, America’s sovereign right to decide its own laws regarding our children and our guns. The speaker, Dr. Robert Flood, states that this “Children’ Rights Amendment” is necessary to “allow a more solid legal foundation to so-called counterbalance the legal interpretation of the Second and 14th Amendment.”
The problem with this proposed amendment is many. It declared that rights are defined by the United Nations, rather than the Bill of Rights, and the rights enshrined in common law and our common civic heritage. It subjugates all branches of the Federal government, the state governments, and the sovereignty of the people to the dictates of global bureaucrats and politicians for whom freedom and liberty are alien.
Worse, is that is declares that parents have to have their parental rights limited by the whims of their own children, who are not legally capable of making decisions for themselves. In other words, if you don’t pay attention to your child’s demand to eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, then you are violating their Constitutional rights, as dictated by the United Nations.
The ultimate danger comes from the “its for the children” argument being enshrined as being the only argument necessary to violate any and all other inalienable rights.
The full text of this proposed Constitutional Amendment is below.
