Though ‘Frisco gets the bad rap for feces paved sidewalks and other vectors of a myriad of diseases, Los Angeles is facing quite a problem of rat spread diseases such as typhus. But wouldn’t the woke and government enlightened city be able to take care of rats and mere trash? No.
“For months rat-infested trash has been piling up on Ceres Avenue, a street that connects downtown LA’s bustling produce and garment districts. Now, health officials say accumulations of trash like this could be a cause of an outbreak of the bacterial disease typhus.”
The rights of the homeless, in part, seem to be of some blame since the right of the homeless trump the rights of Angelenos to not die of typhus…

How bad is it? The rats are not just plaguing the homeless, or even the hoi polloi, but the CityHall itself!
“The first clue Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson had that rats were invading City Hall, possibly carrying a potentially deadly disease, was the pitter-patter of little feet.
“‘We had an employee or two mention they heard something in the ceiling,’ Wesson said Thursday as he led a tour through his office, where he recently had all the rugs ripped out. ‘Then we had an employee spot what she believed to be paw prints.’
“After a flea hidden in a rug pounced on one of his employees late last year, Wesson had enough: He shut down the office and had all the rugs removed.”
It is integral to the Progressive Left’s view that everything is not only racist, but created by White people in order to oppress people is some nefarious scheme of oppressive oppressiveness. Case in point: “White people own time“.

And so if you’re white in the U.S. context, typically you’re taught that time is linear, that every day is a progression beyond the past, that we are not today where we were 50 years ago.

This is just an extension of how non-White people have special “ways of knowing” that justifies rejected objective reality. But then, this sounds more like sheer mental illness rather more than anything else.

It feels like the past, you know, past narratives of race that are rooted in violence and rooted in a lack of freedom. They feel like they can become our reality again at any moment.”

When healthcare is a “right”, we are told, no one will be turned away from treatment because of lack of ability to pay before getting treatment. This, of course is true… however, far too many assume that this “free healthcare” somehow means that they will get the treatment at all; in fact, all it means is that people are not turned away due to lack of co-pay, but due to rationing.
“Thousands of elderly people in Britain are left to go blind because of rationing of eye surgery in the National Health Service (NHS), a report revealed on Saturday (April 6).
“The Times newspaper said a survey by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCO) found tens of thousands of elderly people are left struggling to see because of an NHS cost-cutting drive that relies on them dying before they can qualify for cataract surgery.
“The survey has found that the NHS has ignored instructions to end cataract treatment rationing in defiance of official guidance two years ago.”
The big selling point of socialized medicine is that one either doesn’t have to pay at all, or that they don’t have to pay upfront (pre-paying in taxes OTOH…). But the truth is that going blind because you can’t afford eye surgery or insurance is just as inexpensive as having “free” government run healthcare and going blind because you got the short end of the stick with rationing.
At least with more market oriented healthcare, you at least have the option of going into debt to save your eyesight.
Is this a sign of how badly healthcare under Obamacare, et al., has degraded? Is it a sign of the degradation of society? Or is it both?

“TriHealth claims the website ‘D—s By Mail’ intentionally or through negligence caused emotional distress to its employees.
“The medical company says phallus-shaped confetti was sent to their White Oak office on Cheviot Road, a family medical practice.

“The medical company says it was sent the “confetti penises” from the website in a spring-loaded package described on the website as a “bomb.”
“The lawsuit states that when these packages are opened, the phallus shaped gummies or confetti shoot out of the package, into the room, and onto the unsuspecting person who opened it.

Felt is racist. Yes, felt the material itself, is now somehow racist.
“University of Toronto scholar Stephanie Springgay’s newly published research alleges that there is more to felt, the material, than typically perceived.
“In her paper, ‘”How to Write as Felt”: Touching Transmaterialities and More-Than-Human Intimacies,’ published online in late July by Studies in Philosophy and Education, Springgay suggests that felt, a ‘dense material of permanently interlocking fibers,’ can be linked to racism and capitalism.
“‘[T]his paper addresses “the problem of education” that is predicated on cis-heteronormative White supremacist settler colonial logics that assume knowledge enters from an outside, that is predicated on progress, and that regulates and violently disavows particular bodies,’ it states.
“‘Felting as a posthuman proposition demands that we stop thinking broadly about … education. Instead we need to consider intimate transmaterial touching relations that do not intensify settler colonial mastery over human and nonhuman life,’ the paper adds.”
