Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
The focus this time: Hissy Fits for Justice!
First, a little mood music:
Carrying on…
A good upbringing with loving parents who instill venerable values in their children will usually result in adults who are much better off for it.
This, of course, is why the Left wants to destroy this “privilege”:
“Who are the people responsible for inequitable treatment? I think when it comes down to it, when we talk about privilege, we are usually talking about parents who try to help their children succeed. They provide safe homes, teach their children social skills, ingratiate them with valuable connections, and submerge them in a culture in which they will learn how to get to and through college, and into the workplace. Of course, it’s more than a one generation phenomena. Parents are enabled to privilege their children in part because of the privileges they themselves have received. Privilege moves from parent to child from generation to generation. And the web gets very thick. But at its heart, privilege is family.
“…
“To avoid the unwanted baggage of privilege, several utopian experiments like Oneidans have attempted to communalize sex so that ‘private ties’ would not trump ‘communal solidarity.’ But the inevitable result is that people are not satisfied with the communal arrangement. They want privileges. Eventually, communal solidarity seems like an empty, meaningless, and unnatural replacement for romance.”
But sometimes, “equality” just has to be forced on people whether they like it or not:
“[N]ow the left has expanded its goals to policies that are far more radical. Instead of a well-meaning (albeit misguided) desire to protect people from risk, they now want coerced equality.
“And this agenda also has two components.
A guaranteed and universal basic income for everyone.
Taxes and/or earnings caps to limit the income of the rich.”
Ah, the “purple wage” is just around the corner… assuming we are not consumed by insanity first…
We have gotten to the point where colleges are no longer centers of learning an knowledge, but simply overpriced daycare centers for overgrown petulant children:
“One of the cultural concerns that may have undone Hillary Clinton is the way in which America’s college campuses foster immaturity in the young adults consigned to their care. Parents used to send their children to college as a step on the road to responsible adulthood. Nowadays, thanks to safe spaces, trigger warnings, and microaggressions, it seems as if little distinguishes college students from toddlers in preschool.”
Yea, we’re doomed…
