Proposed Executive Order Designating Certain Rifles for “Militia Purposes”
The faulty Fourth Circuit decision issued last week upholding Maryland’s Scary Gun Ban runs afoul of good jurisprudence. The ruling found that Second Amendment protections don’t extend to individuals who wish to own certain semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15, calling them, “weapons that are most useful in military service.” However, a document sent to me yesterday offers hope of correcting that in the form of a proposed executive order to be issued by President Trump.
Fourth Circuit Sets the Stage for a New National Gun Ban
In an unusual opinion that at times reads more like an op-ed at the New York Times than a legal ruling, the 4th Circuit Court last week upheld Maryland’s highly restrictive “Firearms Safety Act.”
Women with guns: The next threat to the Democratic Party
Abby Ross never spent time around guns until a little more than a decade ago. “I grew up on Staten Island,” she said. “Hunting or gun use was not part of our family traditions.”
The Second Amendment secures an individual’s gun rights
So perfectly lucid that even a child (and maybe a Progressive) can understand.
Interior Secretary Zinke Revokes Obama Rule Banning Lead Ammo On Federal Lands
The Obama administration was nothing if not monomanical in its hatred of firearms. It not only tried to invent facts on the ground (Fast & Furious) and pimp tragedies (Newton) in the cause of gun control, it used its regulatory power to try to make gun buying, ownership and use much more difficult. On its very last day in office, Obama’s head of the Fish & Wildlife Service issued an order banning lead ammunition and lead sinkers from federal lands. The rule was issued without public input or even any actual science to demonstrate that so much lead from expended ammo and abandoned sinkers was plopped on federal land to make any difference.

Meet the terrorist behind the next women’s march
Here’s the left’s next great idea for bringing down President Trump: another women’s march. Which means another public instance of Trump haters shouting slogans to one another and mistaking it for constructive politics. What progressives need to defeat Trump is outreach, but all they have is outrage.

Imagine, gentle readers, that you are a detective working homicide cases in the city or town where you live. And now imagine that you are investigating a murder in which all the evidence points to a single suspect. You obtain an arrest warrant for the man, book him into jail, and prepare to bring him before the bar of justice.

Academic Absurdity of the Week: It’s Whitey’s Fault—Again
One of the main argument of a certain new book that you may have heard about is that the idea of statesmanship has been abandoned in favor of “leadership studies,” which tend to be content-free when not downright stupid.
How Woodrow Wilson Planted the Seeds of the Administrative State
Today the crisis of American government is expressed in an ungainly phrase that rarely appeared in conservative vocabulary in the 1950s and 1960s—the “administrative state,” by which is meant the independent “fourth branch of government” that fits nowhere within the scheme of the Constitution as understood by its authors.

“New Yorker” Editor Says the Russians Weren’t Trying to Help Trump at All
The editor of The New Yorker, David Remnick, says that the Russians weren’t trying to aid Trump’s campaign; he says they were trying to destabilize Hillary’s inevitable presidency. His contention is that, like everyone in the media, the Russians thought that Secretary Clinton was going to be the 45th president, and the hacks and leaks they released were intended to damage her leadership. Remnick says that the Russians are actually now fearful of Trump’s off-the-cuff attitudes and that “there’s a lot of buyer’s remorse.” This totally flies in the face of the liberal narrative that the Russians essentially put President Trump in the Oval Office.

With Sessions Eyeing Marijuana, Watch H.R. 975
While the President’s position on marijuana remains hazy, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made it quite clear that he has watched Reefer Madness over six thousand times, and may go after states that have legalized it. Medicinal users are currently protected under the Rohrbacher-Farr Amendment passed in 2014, which blocked the Department of Justice from messing with state medicinal laws. As the provision is included as part of a Congressional spending package, it needs to be re-authorized every year, and is currently set to expire on April 28th.

NC Attorney General Josh Stein Accused of Ethical Misconduct Before U.S. Supreme Court
North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein (D) has been accused of committing serious ethical misconduct in a brief filed before the United States Supreme Court. Lawyers for the North Carolina Legislature have asked the Supreme Court to recognize their defense of election integrity laws such as voter ID laws and ignore Stein’s attempt to derail an appeal to preserve the laws. The pleadings to the Supreme Court accuse Attorney General Stein of severe ethical misconduct, misconduct for which many lawyers have been disbarred.
Oprah Is Probably Going to Run for President…
Many people in the media are excited about a possible Oprah Winfrey run for the presidency. And so a Bloomberg reporter asked her point blank if she was considering it. Oprah said that previously she hasn’t given it much thought because she didn’t feel like she had the necessary government experience and background, but since Donald Trump was elected, she’s thinking that this experience isn’t a prerequisite. In other words, she’s probably going to run…

Professor left in neck brace after Middlebury College mob goes nuts over Charles Murray speech
Says RBpundit, “See what happens when you give people who call everyone Nazis the license to punch Nazis? They wind up hurting non-Nazis.” Right, but I take it the people who twisted the professor’s neck would say that she became a Nazi by association by defending Murray’s right to speak after being invited. A mob will always justify its violence as righteous.

In an email sent out this morning, the senator is seeking support for a constitutional amendment that would reverse the 2010 Supreme Court decision known as Citizens United v. FEC, which said individuals, nonprofits, corporations, unions and other organizations have the right to spend money at any time to express their political opinions under the First Amendment.

They Hypocrisy Of California

Trump’s Unrealistic Budget
Ahead of his address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, President Trump has released the first details of his broad budget goals for fiscal year 2018, the headline-grabbing element of which is a proposed 10 percent increase in defense spending. To offset this additional $54 billion for the Pentagon, the president is recommending across-the-board cuts in as-yet-unspecified discretionary-spending programs.
European Union Parliament moves to censor “offensive speech”
This is a story which would never take place in the United States, at least not yet and not with the official permission of the government. The European Union has obviously become increasingly alarmed over trends in popular sentiment rippling through their member countries. This started with Brexit, but has more recently cropped up with the candidacies of Marie Le Pen and Geert Wilders. Clearly such rabble rousing is not to be tolerated in the largely socialist paradise so something had to be done. The solution? The EU has passed new rules which will allow them to cut the broadcast of any “hate speech or offensive material” and then purge such speech from the official record.
Why the EU can’t make sense of the world and why its downfall is imminent
At its core, what is the EU? And why, despite its vast resources, does it seem perpetually unable to make sense of the world and meet its objectives? The two answers lie hidden in the EU’s very DNA.

A three-way conservative split?
Our friend Tevi Troy has an article in Politico about what he perceives to be a three-way split in conservatism produced by the Trump ascendancy. Tevi identifies the three branches as (1) “ever-Trumpers,” the president’s ardent supporters; (2) “conservative critics”; and (3) “safe-space conservatives.”

Finally: A Hollywood Film about Leaving Homosexuality
We know too well how many lies the American left has perpetrated on the world. Christian readers here understand that Jesus Himself told us that lies are the primary weapons the enemy of our souls uses. Yet guess how extravagantly the LGBTQ community has been lied to.
The Democratic Rebuttal To Trump’s Speech Is Everything Wrong With The Democratic Party
I try to make it a habit not to hate too much on the rebuttal to any president’s joint session or State of the Union address. It’s a nearly impossible task to come on right after the pomp and circumstance of the full chamber and tepidly voice the opposition’s concerns. Quirks as varied as a wandering eyebrow, a sing-song voice, or a (gasp!) sip of water have been the downfall of many a good politician in this unenviable position.
Out of order
Something tells me that if California state senator Janet Nguyen were a liberal espousing the sacramental view of abortion or the fictitious evils of Jeff Sessions she would be an overnight sensation. As it is, Senator Nguyen’s removal from the state senate chamber when she sought to take issue with her colleagues’ recent tribute to the late Tom Hayden remains something of a secret.
Mack Beggs, transgender wrestler, should not eat her cake and have it
Mack Beggs is a 17-year-old genetic female with a serious body dysmorphia problem that has never been addressed: She believes that she was meant to be male, not female. Rather than treating this psychological problem, Beggs’ parents allowed her to take heavy doses of testosterone so that she can present to the world as a boy.
The real goal of Trump’s executive orders: Reduce the number of immigrants in the U.S.
Behind President Trump’s efforts to step up deportations and block travel from seven mostly Muslim countries lies a goal that reaches far beyond any immediate terrorism threat: a desire to reshape American demographics for the long term and keep out people who Trump and senior aides believe will not assimilate.
The Return of Magic
“Hear me out:”, tweeted John Podhoretz after Hollywood announced the wrong winner at the award ceremonies. “What just happened on the Oscars was actually a profound sign of American institutional collapse”. Yet if it was going backward it was also going forward. The day after the Oscars Elon Musk announced SpaceX would fly two people to the moon next year, using a Dragon crew capsule and a Falcon heavy rocket. Musk would not identify the pair nor name the price they paid for the trip but said “I think they are entering this with their eyes open, knowing that there is some risk here,” adding “it’s nobody from Hollywood.”

Deconstructing the Administrative State
The Wapo – new slogan below – and various other MSM outlets were all shocked and bothered by Steve Bannon’s CPAC comments where he said Trump was working on Deconstructing the Administrative State.
Exploring the Demographics of Midterms
As we approach the Midterms, Democrats are gunning for the House (almost two dozen Republicans-in-Clinton seats) and state governments (a near record of Republican Governors, many of whom are term limited), while Republicans salivate over a very, very tempting Senatorial map (twenty-five Democrats facing re-election, 10 in red states). Turnout will matter, and as Geoffrey Skelley and Kyle Kondik explained, its an entirely different landscape from a Presidential election.
No One Mentions That The Russian Trail Leads To Democratic Lobbyists
K Street lobbyists are the symbol of Washington influence-peddling as they push government for favors, subsidies, exemptions, and other special treatment for their clients. Their customers include, in addition to domestic clients, foreign governments, oligarchs, fugitive speculators, and a rogue’s gallery of questionable figures. Washington lobbyists trade on their access to power. Many are former administration officials or members of Congress. If Trump fulfills his promise to “drain the swamp,” these influence peddlers would have nothing to sell. They are under attack.
Language Alert: “Conservative Opposition To #Obamacare Repeal”
Wait a godforsaken minute. If they’re actually repealing ObamaCare, then Speaker Ryan should be greeted with hurrahs. What sort of Orwellian suppository is this? Conservatives don’t want any part of this noise, and the Progressive tools in Congress have made no alternative case.

Open primary proposal would obviate political parties Mar4 by Thomas Mitchell
A bill is wending its ways through the halls of the legislative building in Carson City that would jettison the current Democrat and Republican primaries in favor of an open primary system, in which anyone could sign up as a candidate and anyone could vote for anyone of any party or no party. The top two vote getters would advance to the General Election, even if both are affiliated with the same party.
Life, Liberty, Reasonably Priced Love
This is a quick throw away post. I’m not dead, but I am very busy. However, younger son pinged me on FB and said “Do the dems really think that the right to Healthcare INSURANCE really is a universal human right? What part of unalienable and natural did they fail to get?”
The Hypocrisy Of California
The “No Ban, No Wall” protests have confused me immensely. Why is border security somehow mutually exclusive of immigration? Is there no longer a “high fences, wide gates” option? It dawns on me it’s because groups in favor of broad immigration don’t want legal immigration, they specifically want the illegal form.
Why the “Burden of Proof” Destroys Rational Discourse
As my friend Chris Lansdown has noted, not only is the “burden of proof” not useful in discussions, it actually renders all discussion and argument impossible, if it is taken seriously.
