In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.
It seems that inner cities are returning to crime, homelessness, and political insanity. Let us look back half a century the last time cities turned into hellholes as William F. Buckley, Jr. talks with then Tom Bradley, who was elected Mayor of Los Angeles, as they discuss the question of what now for the ghetto?
“When we think of assisted suicide or euthanasia, we imagine a limited number of elderly people with late-stage cancer or advanced ALS in severe pain. The argument for helping them die is clear: Death is imminent. Why should they be forced to suffer?
“In 2015, Canada’s Supreme Court ruled that assisted suicide was constitutional. In June 2016, Parliament passed Bill C-14, otherwise known as the Medical Assistance in Dying Act. MAiD was now the law of the land. Anyone who could show that their death was “reasonably foreseeable” was eligible. In this respect, Canada was hardly alone: The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand, among others, allow assisted suicide. So do ten states in the U.S.
“In 2017, the first full year in which MAiD, which is administered by provincial governments, was in operation, 2,838 people opted for assisted suicide, according to a government report. By 2021, that figure had jumped to 10,064—accounting for more than 3 percent of all deaths in Canada that year.
“There have been a total of 31,664 MAiD deaths and the large majority of those people were 65 to 80 when they died. In 2017, only 34 MAiD deaths were in the 18- to 45-year-old category. In 2018, that figure rose to at least 49. In 2019, it was 103; in 2020,118; and in 2021, 139.
“Today, thousands of people who could live for many years are applying—successfully—to kill themselves.”
Florida, under Gov. Ron DeSantis, has increasingly stood up to the cancer that is wokeness in government and public education, and now is joining Texas in the purging of praxis from the administration of public colleges and universities.
His plan:
His full speech discussing higher education reform:
Hopefully, such initiatives spread to other states.

How much has politics in Texas changed over the past fifty years? A lot! Let’s see just what Texas politics was like half a century ago with William F. Buckley, Jr., Frances Farenthod, Beryl Milburn, Ronnie Dugger.
Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
The focus this time: For young girls, Abion is perfidious.
First, a little mood music:
Carrying on…
Apparently investigating crimes are racist when Pakistani men might be caught and prosecuted… and their victims justyoung White girls.
“An Asian grooming gang was free to roam the streets and abuse young girls because police officers were told to “find other ethnicities” to investigate, a detective has claimed.
“At least 57 young girls are thought to have been exploited by a paedophile network of around 100 suspected perpetrators based in south Manchester in the 2000s. The gang, mainly comprised of Asian men, hooked their victims on drugs, groomed, and sexually abused them. One girl, aged 15, died after being injected with heroin by a 50-year-old man.”
However, not being White isn’t enough. Sikh girls are also targeted because they weren’t Muslim.
“Gangs of predominantly Pakistani men have been grooming British Sikh girls for decades, according to claims in a bombshell report.
“The study alleges that young Sikh women have been ‘targeted’ by Muslim men who subjected them to sexual abuse.
“The report by the Sikh Mediation and Rehabilitation Team charity found that police ‘recklessly ignored’ complaints – often for reasons of ‘political correctness’.”
The entire LGBTQ&c. political agenda used the venerable claim to privacy and tolerance, yet is increasingly turning out to be driving and controlled by the nakedest ideological totalitarians. And as most totalitarians need a symbol of their power over you, so the LGBTQ&c. Nomenklatura use the so-called “pride flag” as a symbol of their dominance.
“We weighed the pros of the Chinese route (our girls would learn fluent Mandarin and, hopefully, a broadened worldview) and the cons (exposure to Communist Party propaganda and potential social isolation of being foreigners in a group of Chinese students). We took the plunge.”
Meh, what’s a little Commie indoctrination, after all?
“Our stringent government co-parent quickly made its presence felt. The girls’ Chinese kindergarten lectured on us everything, including how many hours our daughters should sleep, what they should eat and their optimal weight. Each morning all of the students performed calisthenics in straight rows and raised China’s red flag while singing the national anthem. Classroom windows were usually kept open to increase air circulation and prevent contamination by airborne illnesses, even during winter, when the kids would attend class wearing their coats.
“We sometimes felt as if our children were on loan to us for evenings and weekends, to be delivered back to school each weekday.”
And how they loved that their little tykes were Leviathan’s Children.
“Over time, the benefits kicked in. Constantly served up moral, history and culture lessons on pulling together for the sake of the Chinese nation, our girls came home discussing self-discipline, integrity and respect for elders.”
And, of course, the parents praised their Commie overlords.

My apologies! Recent real life stuff and responsibilities have unfortunately curtailed posting as of late. I’ll try to adjust and try to post a bit more regularly.
