Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
The focus this time: Once a penal colony; still a penal colony
First, a little disturbing panopticon down under:
Carrying on…
When a digital panopticon isn’t enough, you go door to door interrogating people about potential protests against the state.
“A trio of Australian police officers visited a man claiming they are doing ‘welfare checks’ to ask residents if they plan on participating in the ongoing protests against COVID-19 mitigation efforts. The man in this video was asked if he has plans or if he knows anyone who has plans to protest and if he has participated in protests in the past.”

Nothing says “protecting people” like choking a bitch.
“A Victoria Police officer has been filmed grabbing a young woman by the throat and forcing her to the ground she struggles and screams, ‘He’s choking me!’
The incident on Monday, which is now under internal investigation, began after the 21-year-old refused to produce her identification when police approached her for not wearing a mask.
“According to her boyfriend, she admits that when the officer first asked her why she didn’t have a mask, she gave him the finger.”

Oh, it gets worse. Much, much worse.
Thousands of police assemble on Melbourne streets, demanding identification, and questioning people about their vaccine status, and support of government COVID-tyranny measures.
If they don’t answer ‘correctly’, they are arrested, handcuffed, and taken away ‘for processing’! pic.twitter.com/RYj2ASRFKd
