How did anyone manage addition before Common Core?
It’s sooo much easier than doing it the old way… which involved only a single step:

I suppose this might be interesting to me, because I am interested in symbols, philosophy, semantics, math, on an intellectual level. The base of a number system is interesting, but I am not a 1st grader. Whatever this 14 step “analysis” is meant to teach, my bet is it fails to help develop children as it has failed to impress the adult who wrote this article. And beyond that, it seems to demonstrate how skeptical we should all be to any political mandate, not after the fact, but when first postulated.
