The Republicans’ Very Own Dunkirk

William A. Jacobson, over at Legal Insurrection, upon commenting on the disaster the befell the Republicans, titled his commentary “Dunkirk” in reference to the evacuation from France of British and allied forces in 1940.

This brings to mind the words of Winston Churchill:

This is good advice for those whose side lost in the 2012 election.  To quote Cmdr. Peter Quincy Taggart, “Never give up. Never surrender.”

On the other hand, there is value in strategic withdraw, when no amount of energy or casualties expended would change the outcome.

I’m not really so worried about the beaches’ being strewn with Republican bodies…except metaphorically, of course.

Very good, Mr. Hat–and quite appropriate.
