Yes There IS A “Gay Agenda”

     For all the claims that its all about “tolerance”, the “tolerant” seem hell bent on pushing increasingly fringe ideas and ideology on people. Christopher Rufo has, yet again, obtain direct evidence of this coming from the very top of the mega-conglomerate Disney.

A is B: David Hume is George Floyd; Terrorists are Social Activists; Men are Women and Women are Men

     Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

     The focus this time: Up is down and war is peace.

     First, a little mood philosopy:

     Carrying on…

     The University of Edinburgh declared:

“The work of the University’s Equality & Diversity Committee and its Race Equality and Anti-Racist Sub-committee has continued over the summer. It has been further energised following the killing in May of George Floyd and the ongoing campaigning by the Black Lives Matter movement. Our Race Equality and Anti-Racist Action Plan is accelerating and amplifying our efforts.

“It is important that campuses, curricula and communities reflect both the University’s contemporary and historical diversity and engage with its institutional legacy across the world. For this reason the University has taken the decision to re-name – initially temporarily until a full review is completed – one of the buildings in the Central Area campus.

“From the start of the new academic year the David Hume Tower will be known as 40 George Square.”

     Might this new “George” have relevance to that “George”?

     Some believe so.

South Dakota vs. Critical Race Theory

     Another state has signed into law a bill that band the indoctrination of children into the ideology of Critical Race Theory: South Dakota. The primary section reads:

Section 1. That chapter 13-1 be amended with a NEW SECTION:

For the purposes of this Act, the term, divisive concepts, means:

(1) That any race, color, religion, sex, ethnicity, or national origin is inherently superior or inferior;

(2) That individuals should be discriminated against or adversely treated because of their race, color, religion, sex, ethnicity, or national origin;

(3) That an individual’s moral character is inherently determined by their race, color, religion, sex, ethnicity, or national origin;

(4) That an individual, by virtue of their race, color, religion, sex, ethnicity, or national origin is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or subconsciously;

(5) That individuals, by virtue of race, color, religion, sex, ethnicity, or national origin, are inherently responsible for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race, color, religion, sex, ethnicity, or national origin;

(6) An individual should feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of the individual’s race, color, religion, ethnicity, or national origin; or

(7) Meritocracy or traits such as hard work ethic are racist or sexist or were created by members of a particular race or sex to oppress members of another race or sex.

Firing Line Friday: Democracy and Political Scandal

     In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

     Political scandals, both real and cooked up, have long had a disparate impact in democratic governance. William F. Buckley, Jr. and guests Michael Foot, Peter Riddell, Helene Middleweek, and Roger Evans compare American and British scandals, and we today can compare both with the current era.

Artificial Neurons Mean One Thing: Bioroid Dryads & Cyborg Catgirls

     One of the greatest barriers to linking the artificial with the organic when it comes to thinking and processing is the difficulty in growing neurons, let alone grow neurons to order… until now.

“Swedish researchers have engineered an artificial neuron that can control the snapping of a living Venus flytrap, a brand new development that has implications for future research linking artificial, synthetic devices with biological systems such as brain-machine interfaces (think Elon Musk’s Neuralink) or bionic prosthetics.

“In a study published in Nature Communications on Tuesday, researchers from three Swedish universities constructed the neurons from polymers that can transport electrical signals to cells in the Venus flytrap that control the carnivorous plant’s mouth.

“‘We used Venus flytraps as a model system to demonstrate the biointegration of our artificial neurons,’ Simone Fabiano, lead study author and a researcher in organic nanoelectronics at Linköping University, told The Daily Beast in an email. ‘Venus flytraps are easy to handle, and as a first demonstration, they represented an easy choice.’”

     Already, the potential for making sentient dyrads possible has arrived!

     But this would also lead to the logical goal of making catgirl cyborgs and bioroids real!

“While these synthetic cells are quick, they aren’t quick enough. Fabiano said the frequency at which these neurons operate is on par with human sympathetic neurons (the ones that prep your body for fight or flight). Ideally, the team would like them to be faster, mimicking the frequency of the human neocortex, the part of the human brain thought to be responsible for thought, attention, perception and episodic memory.

“The next step is not only to get these artificial neurons to be faster but to extend them to other, more complex biological systems. They’re already looking to test out new versions in animal models.

“This development is a breakthrough in many ways, making melding organic with inorganic less a work of science fiction and more of a promising reality. Fabiano hopes these soft, biocompatible circuits will one day be incorporated into artificial intelligence, robotics, smart labels and even wearable technology to monitor health and wellness.”

     Better living through science!

Quick Takes – Euthanasia Madness: Suicide Pods; Mandatory Vaccinations; Suicide Begets Suicide

     Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

     The focus this time: Dying safely alone in droves.

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Death, Rx

     Live in the pod; die in the pod.

“Switzerland has just legalized a new way to die by assisted suicide. The country’s medical review board has authorized the use of the Sarco Suicide Pod, which is a 3-D-printed portable coffin-like capsule with windows that can be transported to a tranquil place for a person’s final moments of life.

“Conventional assisted-suicide methods have generally involved a chemical substance. Inventor Philip Nitschke of Exit International told the website SwissInfo.ch that his ‘death pod’ offers a different approach. ‘We want to remove any kind of psychiatric review from the process and allow the individual to control the method themselves,’ he said. ‘Our aim is to develop an artificial-intelligence screening system to establish the person’s mental capacity. Naturally, there is a lot of skepticism, especially on the part of psychiatrists.’”

“The pod can be activated from inside and can give the person intending to die various options for where they want to be for their final moments. ‘The machine can be towed anywhere for the death,’ he said. ‘It can be in an idyllic outdoor setting or in the premises of an assisted-suicide organization, for example.’

     Now where have we seen that before?

     Death, btw, is by hypoxia.

“Once inside, the person intending to end their life will have to answer pre-recorded questions and press a button that will start the process of flooding the interior with nitrogen, which will quickly reduce the oxygen level inside from 21 percent to 1 percent. ‘The person will get into the capsule and lie down,’ he said, adding, ‘It’s very comfortable.’”

Hair Color Equity

Meanwhile… in a Texas Elementary School.

     An elementary school decided that diving a class in two by hair color and then declaring one of the two to be less intelligent while giving them games with missing pieces that were unplayable and then forcing them to clean up after the other children. This didn’t happen in 1930s Germany, it happen here and now in Texas.

“Children at a local elementary school segregated by the color of their hair. The children in one group told they’re not as smart as the others. It was supposed to be a lesson on racism, but some parents are furious neither they, nor their kids, were told about it ahead of time.

“…

“Mike and Brandi Lininger say their ten-year-old daughter was confused and hurt by a classroom experiment in January at Leon Springs Elementary. Students were separated according to hair color, with one group receiving preferential treatment.

“’All of the dark-haired kids, the brown- and black-haired kids, were treated as the privileged ones and the blonde haired and the redhead kids were the ones treated not so nicely,’ said Brandi Lininger.

“The Lininger’s say teachers told students children in the fair-haired group were not as intelligent. That group was purposely given a game with pieces missing so they could not play. Later they were made to clean up after the other children.

“‘She was hurt, her friends, and she named to the principal and to district officials, names of her friends that were crying,’ Brandi Lininger said.”

     It turns out that this is the modern “equity” version of a lesson from 1968:

“The brown hair/blonde hair idea is a variation of a lesson first taught the day after the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. That’s when a teacher named Jane Elliott decided to segregate her 3rd grade class based on eye color. On the first day, kids with blue eyes were told they were superior to kids with brown eyes and on the next day, the roles were reversed. The lesson was immediate a sensation.”

     Notice the difference between the two lessons. In the current Texas case, there was no indication that they were going to reverse it like it was done in 1968. The 1968 lesson was intended to show all kids that discrimination was bad by showing them how being discriminated against is truly horrible. In the modern example, there was no indication that they were going to do such a reversal with the kids with light colored hair being given preferential treatment and those with darker hair being treated like dirt, and there is little chance that a school in America today would dare try to pull something like that lest they be harassed and even threatened by the usual suspects; while the earlier lesson was about teaching the value of equality, this recent lesson was about equity and the need to treat the “privileged” less equally than others in order to achieve some ill-defined utopia of equity—this is the “praxis” of Critical Race Theory in action.
