In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.
While people expect their confidence to be betrayed by politicians, it is different when it comes to their lawyers, doctors, and religious or spiritual leaders. William F. Buckley, Jr. discussion the question of confidence and betrayal with Harriet F. Pilpel, Norman r. Tamarkin, and Monsignor Florence Cohalan.
Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
The focus this time: Canada to the ancient Aztecs, “Amateurs!”

All humans will die eventually, so by this measure, apparently suicide doesn’t exist even when you are killing yourself.
“[A] new film featuring the life and death of Marieke Vervoort, who chose death after a small party in 2019. Despite a degenerative condition that caused “agonizing pain,” she was an award-winning Paralympian. (That description does raise questions about her pain treatment.)
“The quote comes from the filmmaker.
“‘Absolutely, people should have the right to say whether they want to have a doctor help them at the last moment. If they’re going to die anyway, this is not suicide,’ she said. The right to die saved Marieke Vervoort’s life, the director said: ‘She was gathering her pills together at age 29. She lived an extra 12 years, with great joys and highs and did wonderful things.’
“The argument is that she did not kill herself because she chose assisted suicide. This strikes me as a cruel distinction, communicating: We’ll do it for you, because we agree your life doesn’t have value anymore.
“Suffering is no joke. Neither is telling people they are a burden and making suicide a preference.”

There is a fundamental basis of American society that underlies the superficial sense of normalcy most people have, and to maintain that normalcy, those foundational pillars of society must be maintained. Many conservatives on the right do try to renew those foundational values and distinctions that make America unique, even amongst the Anglo-sphere. Actual grassroot organizations—which are the conservative establishment—and those who are associated with the longstanding conservative movement, steep themselves in these historically unique values and fight—yes, fight—to make sure that they are remain so that any superficiality of normalcy that is lost can be re-built on firm grounds and perhaps even stronger and more resilient than before.
However, far too many see only the superficial normalcy and presume that it is the default—that they can ignore those “pillars of society” because of course others must default to the same norms that they have… and then fail when their buggy whips of reason fail to reach those whose fundamental values were reshaped sub rosa.
Many people who are casuals in regards to politics and underlying beliefs of the radical and/or woke Left don’t bother to take that threat seriously, yet shriek histrionically when others don’t stand up and immediately eliminate the superficial neo-normalcy that the Left has built upon a the ruins of the former “pillars of society” that has been long in the works.
The focus is on two different things: The underlying fundamentals vs. the superficial result of perceived normalcy. Many on the right presume that their normalcy is the fundamental structure while dismissing the altered framework for superficial madness, thus presuming that the only reason that others on the right don’t just swat it away is because they are the “surrender caucus” or even in on the perfidious scheme. Some do know better but push this nonsense because they can make money/grift off of those who do. Indeed, it is the extensive ablative armor of American society that has concomitantly both protected and insulated the public while also allowed the Left’s striking down of pillars, and the effects thereof, to be obfuscated if not completely obscured to middle-of-the road moderate Americans.
Such people only pay attention to the threat when their insular sense of normalcy is invaded. They seek to lash out until that superficial neo-normalcy that hasn’t quite been normalized enough slinks back below the surface and declare victory because their personal sense of normalcy is back. Yet rather than be defeated, those on the Left with their systemic power just work harder to further undermine the fortitude of America’s more basic values in a more subtle and effective fashion.
We’ve seen premature declarations of victory, while others have accepted that the right must be in this for the long hall.
Most people likely believe that before being permanently sterilized and their body mutilated kids are allowed to grow up and be thoroughly examined by multiple doctors and psychologists.
Most people are wrong.
🧵1/ BREAKING: The largest “trans healthcare” providers in the U.S. are rubber-stamping letters approving gruesome, life-altering surgeries. It’s such a racket that my producer was approved for testicle removal in #22minutes. The tape is disturbing.

2/ First, some background. Ari Groner is a licensed clinical social worker who educates doctors on “trans healthcare.” At a recent training session for the Juniper Center, Groner explained that she writes whatever letters her patients want, because she’s not a “gatekeeper.” pic.twitter.com/8CVUWiYetY

3/ Groner was referring to the WPATH standards, which major hospitals follow. They require that trans patients obtain a letter before undergoing surgeries. But Groner tells her audience to treat the letters as a “persuasive essay," and to green-light even suicidal patients. pic.twitter.com/dpQe6TCdRP

‘Twould seem that schools’ attempt to indoctrinate children to accept transgenderism isn’t going as well as some adults would like.

This may just be an isolated incident, or this could be the tip of an iceberg that the gender Titanic is heading towards. Only time will tell.

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.
The voice that America ought to present to the world is a long debated question now just as it was forty years ago when William F. Buckley, Jr. asked what is Radio Free Europe up to, with James Lane Buckley and Frank J. Shakespeare.

The focus this time: Indoctrinate and then indoctrinate some more.

You will be forced to regurgitate wokeness at the University of Connecticut, especially after being indoctrination over “Anti-Black Racism”.
“The University of Connecticut (UConn) will officially make its ‘Anti-Black Racism’ (ABR) course mandatory for all undergraduate students as part of the core curriculum’s new social justice requirement.
“Provost Anne D’Alleva announced on May 17 that the requirement will go into effect during the 2024-2025 academic year with a course that will be similar to the one-credit ABR elective that has been offered since 2021.
“‘An education at our university must provide many opportunities to confront the history and current reality of injustice and human rights abuses, and we expect our students to be leaders in creating a more just and equitable world. ABR and the curricular changes that are in development are a powerful point of departure from the status quo,’ D’Alleva stated.
“University Spokesperson Stephanie Reitz told Campus Reform that the course requirement was created by the University Senate, which approved the motion 36-25. ‘The Senate’s discussion includes different perspectives voiced by various members of that body, including faculty and students, so we would refer you to that discussion,’ Reitz stated.
“According to UConn’s website, the fall 2022 version of the course was designed to instruct students about ‘foundational concepts related to Black consciousness, Black resistance, Black resilience, and intersectional solidarity.’”

Previously, your humble author invoked Poe’s Law over claims of schoolkids identifying as cats, and that identity being validated. It turns out that reality doesn’t have anything to do with it.
“A Church of England school teacher told a pupil she was ‘despicable’ after she refused to accept that her classmate identifies as a cat.
“The 13-year-old girl and her friend were reprimanded by their teacher at Rye College, in East Sussex, on Friday at the end of a Year 8 class on ‘life education’ in which they were told they can ‘be who you want to be and how you identify is up to you’.
“The row, which has infuriated parents, was allegedly sparked by one of them asking a fellow pupil: ‘How can you identify as a cat when you’re a girl?’
“…
“[T]he heated exchange taken by one of the pupils, in which the teacher starts by saying ‘how dare you – you’ve just really upset someone’ by ‘questioning their identity’.
The pupil responded: ‘If they want to identify as a cat or something then they are genuinely unwell – crazy.’”
