Quick Takes – Nature Unnatural: Re-engineering Humans; Nature Over Humans; Abolishing Human Families

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Less Human Than Human.

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

So obsessed are the environmental extremists that humans are almost like a virus that has infected “Gaia”, that short of genocide of all humans, they want to genetically engineer human beings to better fit into the “green” lifestyle that they declare that humans be forced to live. Such insane proposals include:

  • Induce intolerance to red meat (think lactose intolerance), since livestock farming accounts for a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Make humans smaller to reduce the amount of energy we each need to consume. This could be done by selecting smaller embryos through preimplantation genetic diagnosis, a technique already in use to screen for genetic diseases. “Human engineering could therefore give people the choice between having a greater number of smaller children or a smaller number of larger children,” they write.
  • Reduce birthrates by making people smarter, since higher cognitive ability appears linked to lower birthrates. This could be achieved through a variety of means, including better schooling, electrical stimulation of the brain and drugs designed to improve cognitive ability, they propose.
  • Treat people with hormones, such as oxytocin, to make us more altruistic and empathetic. As a result, people would be more willing to act as a group and more sensitive to the suffering of animals and other people caused by climate change.

I, For One, Welcome Our Robot-Run Casino Overlords

Nevada, and especially Las Vegas, tends to be a rather transient state and a state more than many where humans with few educational credentials or those without higher level skills can nonetheless earn a living working in the casino industry. As is the case with the advancement of science and technology since the dawn of the industrial revolution, low skilled jobs that can be replaced with automation will be replaced with automation.

“MGM Resorts International this year plans to install at Las Vegas resorts an unknown number of automated beverage systems programmed to mix hundreds of different drinks – all at the touch of a button.

“It’s a job that for many years depended on the hands of living, breathing service workers. But as the incoming technology moves closer to Southern Nevada casinos, rank-and-file union workers can’t say for certain whether machines will force them to abandon jobs they’ve held for years – more than a decade in some cases – to develop new skills far from the threat of automation.

“…

“The coming of these machines has raised several important questions: What does a future with robots look like in Las Vegas? What will happen to a service industry hopeful that union powers will provide protection? Should workers be afraid?”

A Las Vegas run by machines would be most welcome, and certainly better politically than the situations Nevadans currently have to suffer through. Even the robot mob is better.

The Latest Idea from U.K. Police: Disarming Victims of Domestic Violence

Between a victim of domestic violence and the perpetrator of domestic violence, whom would benefit more from the victim being disarmed in future encounters. If you said that the perpetrator would, congratulations for having a modicum of common sense; if you said the later, condolences, you are the Nottinghamshire Police.

“Nottinghamshire Police is piloting a scheme where victims of domestic violence will have their kitchen knives replaced with blunt utensils, to help stop partners attacking them in their own home.

“Around a hundred ‘no-point’ knives will be given to victims who have either been threatened or attacked with a knife.”

Taking away the means of a victim of domestic violence to defend themselves is objectively pro-criminal. If the perpetrator want to harm said victim again, they could just find some other pointy object (like a pointed stick), or, especially if they are stronger, use a blunt weapon or their bare hands to be in a physically dominating situation. Of course, if a person is considered so dangerous that you can’t trust them around pointy objects, why the hell are they left free to live in the same house as their acknowledged target for violence?

Media Normalization of Prepubescent Drag

The hitherto unthinkable idea of child “drag queens” is not only becoming increasingly common with “drag kid” celebrities becoming more numerous, but the phenomenon itself becoming increasingly normalized, not just by “drag queen story time” as public libraries, but by more and more media outlets (all of the sudden in a short span of time) such as Huffington Post, VICE, and Mashable—going so far as to declare this the “future”.

Happy Flag Day, 2019

     Happy Flag Day!

There are many historical flags associated with the United States, particularly during the War of Independence.

One such flag is the Bedford Flag:

The Bedford Flag is the oldest known flag in the United States. It is associated with the Minutemen of Bedford, Massachusetts and the Battles of Lexington and Concord of 1775.

The painted-on design depicts an armored arm grasping a straight sword. The two sides are asymmetrical; the sword appears behind the motto on one side and appears in front of it on the other. The Latin motto VINCE AUT MORIRE (“Conquer Or Die”) reads from top to bottom on one side and from bottom to top on the other.

Page family oral tradition, later recounted for historians, held that the Bedford militia’s flag was in the custody of the Page family at the time of the American Revolution, and that Nathaniel Page took it into battle at Concord.

Quick Takes – Current College Wokeness: Out With Heterosexism; In With Queer Feminism; Always Doubleplusgood Newspeak

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: And the baby out with the bathwater.

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Heterosexuality, better known as the natural and normal inclination of human beings to engage in reproductive acts (i.e. f**k), is now doubleplusungood

“The University of Minnesota Housing and Residential Life Department is hosting a ‘Social Justice Leadership Retreat’ during which students can spend a weekend of ‘immersion’ in social justice.

“Students going on the Jan. 18-20 retreat will spend the weekend participating in various activities surrounding social justice topics, such as ‘race and racism, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, and campus climate,’ according to the department website. They will also attend ‘training sessions’ on ‘privilege’ and explore their ‘identities,’ as they share their stories in a small group setting.”

The Non-Obsolete Man

The war against masculinity tends towards assumptions, particularly in regards to stereotyping men in a most cartoonish fashion and treating them not as biological males but as imperfect females to be re-moulded into an even more stereotypical woke “β”-male.

Myriad such examples have been making the rounds as of late, one of which received a rather unrestrained fisking by author Larry Correia. However, in this little article, your humble author would like to point out the false manichean narrative from said article that assumes that it is an exclusive dualistic choice between “toxic masculinity” and “wokeness”.

One article, fisked by others already, sets up some false either/or choices replete with nonsensical and ignorant stereotypes. An examination of said false choices:

Hunting vs. Knowing How to Cook

It is understandable that many men in an urban and suburban setting don’t have a need or even a local opportunity to hunt (outside of pests, rodents, and rabid hobos) or otherwise don’t have an opportunity to get a hunting license and go out hunting. However, just because one doesn’t hunt, does not mean that there is anything wrong with hunting or even knowing how to hunt. Hunting, furthermore, isn’t even just a “man” thing and a woman who knows how to hunt can be both feminine and sexy due to her hunting. Those who hunt, both men and women, don’t somehow have to choose between being able to hunt and being able to cook, as if this were a dualistic choice in some rpg character creation. Indeed, cooking is a basic skill that everyone ought to be able to handle, at least to the degree that one can create a healthy and balanced meal that is at least palatable.

The Christchurch Ball and Gag

The Prime Minister, whose party holds dictatorial control over Middle Earth New Zealand, is doubling down on authoritarianism by pushing the “Christchurch Call” on governments and tech giants to censor “violent” and other “hateful” speech.

The entire “call” can be read here, but most of it is bureaucratic doublespeak and vague concepts that cloak strict censorship and persecution of innocents. For example, they seek not only to stop “terrorist” communications but any “violent extremist content”, which if “hate speech” laws are any indication, include politically incorrect utterances like “misgendering” someone or critiquing Islam.

Though superficially seeming to just be a big group hug amongst those who want open and honest standards for weeding out active terrorists, those sweetly worded phrases are the same types of justifications they use to silence anyone and everyone they decide to, particularly since the “call” requires Big Brother level online monitoring with corporatist-level coordination against identified enemies.

Already, the Christchurch Call has been used as justification for censorship of “thought criminal” sites such as 8chan, 4chan, LiveLeak, ZeroHedge, and bitchute.

And just who are some of the usual suspects eager to censor and control the internet?

     Dozens of countries:

Most of the biggest tech giants involved online including Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Twitter, and Facebook (none of whom seem to have any qualms with crushing competition).

Thankfully, the United States told them to go pound sand, something that previous administrations including Obama’s did as well due to such calls running afoul of the 1st Amendment… though that didn’t stop the usual suspects on the increasingly vocal hard Left from chiming in with their blather.

The Normalization of HIV

Back in the 1970’s, the band KISS added samples of their own blood to ink that was to be used in KISS comic books. This was considered awesome by fans of KISS because it was like buying part of the band, even though the only thing one would get from it was the feeling of awesomeness.

Now, the German magazine “Vangardist” is doing something similar, except instead of using blood from an awesome and legendary band, they are using HIV+ blood in order to fight “serophobia” and the fear of getting HIV and AIDS…

“‘With this unique project, we want to create a response in a heartbeat by transforming the media into the very root of the stigma itself – by printing every word, line, picture and page of the magazine with blood from HIV+ people,’ Saatchi & Saatchi Executive Creative Director Jason Romeyko said in a press release. ‘By holding the issue, readers are immediately breaking the taboo.’

“…

“Ending the stigma surrounding HIV is vital to eradicating the virus, health experts say. A culture of prejudice and shame can deter people from getting tested, prevent carriers from disclosing their HIV status to sexual partners and make it difficult for prevention programs to operate in broader community settings, according to studies.”

Removing the stigma of a sexually transmitted deadly disease with no cure leads not to eradicating HIV, but in people openly celebrating it, such as with the Gay community amongst homosexual men, including some men known as “bug chasers” who receive “the gift” by being the recepeint of anal intercourse with a HIV positive “gift giver”.
