Quick Takes – Nationalizing the Suburbs; Nationalizing Housing Questionnaires; and Nationalizing Opposition

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: All your neighborhoods are belong to us!

     First, a little mood movie:

     Carrying on…

Obama’s “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” has been commented on repeatedly, but it has the lack of press coverage of such a fundamentally transformative agenda is striking:

“The danger AFFH poses to Democrats explains why the press barely mentions it. This lack of curiosity, in turn, explains why the revolutionary nature of the rule has not been properly understood. Ultimately, the regulation amounts to back-door annexation, a way of turning America’s suburbs into tributaries of nearby cities.

“…

“The plan has three elements: 1) Inhibit suburban growth, and when possible encourage suburban re-migration to cities. This can be achieved, for example, through regional growth boundaries (as in Portland), or by relative neglect of highway-building and repair in favor of public transportation. 2) Force the urban poor into the suburbs through the imposition of low-income housing quotas. 3) Institute “regional tax-base sharing,” where a state forces upper-middle-class suburbs to transfer tax revenue to nearby cities and less-well-off inner-ring suburbs (as in Minneapolis/St. Paul).

“If you press suburbanites into cities, transfer urbanites to the suburbs, and redistribute suburban tax money to cities, you have effectively abolished the suburbs. For all practical purposes, the suburbs would then be co-opted into a single metropolitan region.

“…

” In other words, by obligating all localities receiving HUD funding to compare their demographics to the region as a whole, AFFH effectively nullifies municipal boundaries. Even with no allegation or evidence of intentional discrimination, the mere existence of a demographic imbalance in the region as a whole must be remedied by a given suburb. Suburbs will literally be forced to import population from elsewhere, at their own expense and in violation of their own laws. In effect, suburbs will have been annexed by a city-dominated region, their laws suspended and their tax money transferred to erstwhile non-residents.”

     Further:

“There are plenty of ways in which HUD can pressure a suburb to bend to its will. The techniques go far beyond threats to withhold federal funds. The recent Supreme Court decision in Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs v. Inclusive Communities Project has opened the door to ‘disparate impact’ suits against suburbs by HUD and private groups alike. That is, any demographic imbalance, whether intentional or not, can be treated by the courts as de facto discrimination.”

The War On Boys: Lego Edition

#GenderJustice has come to a Washington state kindergarten.  Because the boys tended to play with Legos while girls didn’t, a so-called teacher has decided that this is oppressive and responded by… not only banning boys from playing with Legos, but lying to them about it!

“In Karen Keller’s kindergarten classroom, boys can’t play with Legos.

“They can have their pick of Tinkertoys and marble tracks, but the colorful bricks are ‘girls only.'”

“‘I always tell the boys, “You’re going to have a turn” — and I’m like, “Yeah, when hell freezes over” in my head,’ she said. ‘I tell them, “You’ll have a turn’ because I don’t want them to feel bad.”‘”

“Although her approach might anger some parents, Keller is sticking to her guns: It’s all part of a plan to get girls building during ‘free choice,’ the 40 minutes of unstructured play time embedded at the end of every school day.”

Why is this so-called teacher doing this?  Because boys tend to be better on average when it comes to spatial and math skills, and “fairness” requires the teacher to educationally kneecap little boys even more than they have been already:

“Lego play, Keller found, has been widely attributed to accelerating development and helping children fine-tune spatial and math skills, two of the largest areas of cognitive disparity between men and women.”

Of course, the girls just weren’t interested in it like the boys were.  That boys prefer some toys while girls prefer others, even in the face of a concerted effort to subvert biology.

“At first, Keller tried enticing her girl students with pink and purple Legos.

“‘But it wasn’t enough,’ she said. The girls weren’t interested and the boys just expanded their palettes.”

A Feminist Epistemology of Mathematics

Apparently one plus one equaling two is an oppressive social construct.  Don’t take my word on it, just read a peer reviewed article entitled “Moving Towards a Feminist Epistemology of Mathematics”!

The peer reviewed article, appearing in Educational Studies in Mathematics (Vol 28, No. 3, pp. 275-291) is worthy of a fisking.  While many passages are repetitive or vacuous, the major idiocy will be pointed out for your reading pleasure…

N.B. References noted in text will be omitted for ease of reading.

“Received science has been criticised on three grounds from a gender perspective. The first is its reductionism and its claim to be objective and value-free. Second, the conventional style of learning and teaching in science, its pedagogy, has been challenged. It is suggested that enquiry methods used by scientists are often intrusive and mechanistic, separating observer and observed, and reinforcing competition. Further these methods a presented not only as ‘correct’ but also as the only way possible. Third, having rejected objectivity as an untenable criterion for judging science, a new scientific epistemology was required and has been derived  by examining the connections between the discipline and those who use it, and the society within which it develops. This line of reasoning is consistent with a broad range of thinking in the sociology of science.”

To translate from academic gobbledygook to plain English: Math is sexist because it’s not subjective and open to interpretation; there is no such thing as a “correct” answer; and pedagogical idjits need to come up with politically correct nonsense that eschews actual mathematics.

“Mathematics tends to be taught with a heavy reliance upon written texts which removes its conjectural nature, presenting it as inert information which should not be questioned. Predominant patterns of teaching focus on the individual learner and induce competition between learners. Language is pre-digested in the text, assuming that meaning is communicated and is on-negotiable.”

That is because 1 + 1 = 2.  This is not conjectural.  You are free to question it.  Understand the proof and disprove it or provide your own contradicting proof.  And the point of teaching mathematics is to teach mathematics to the individual.  It either is or is not; there is no “negotiation”.

Public Schools ♥ Terrorism

A public school forcing children to recite the Lord’s Prayer or write proselytizing sermons for Mormon missionaries would be condemned for violating the “separation of church and state”.1 But in the minds of the Leftist who have a stranglehold on public educations, making students recite the Shahada isn’t a violation of “separation of church and state” because the Constitution doesn’t say anything about the “separation of mosque and state.”2

Such logic probably explains why not only are children being forced to recite the Shahada, but to sing the praise of Islam… and apparently also terrorism, with lyrics such as:

“Like a sandstorm in the desert, sending camels into motion,
like how a single faith can make a heart open,
they might only have one god,
but they can make an explosion.”

And:

“And they don’t really care,
If no Jews of C’s believe
Cause they still have
A lot of others to reach”

So #FacePalm inducing this was, that even CAIR was slackjawed.

But the terrorism was just a mis-understanding, right?  Not at another school where kids were required to literally draw a propaganda poster for ISIS!

“Students in ninth grade at Salem Junior High School were given a homework assignment where they were told to draw a propaganda poster for a terrorist organization.”

This Thanksgiving, between expressing our thanks for all that Obama hasn’t taken away yet and enjoying some tasty turkey, let us eschew politics for at least one day while we enjoy the company of kith & kin.

Fly This Flag or Burn This Flag?

In the Ruthuglican H8 state of Utah, a condominium community association has fined a  homeowner for daring to fly a flag of unity and justice!

Why isn’t the ACLU standing up to defend the flying of this flag?  Why, this flag is under attack… with the courts even saying such H8ful thing like it’s totes OK to burn this flag!  H8 Crime!!1!  H8 Crime!!1!

Could you imagine the Gay Rainbow Pride flag being burned with impunity, while people who fly it get punished for flying it?
