Quick Takes – Deadly Harvest: Harvesting Organs… From The Healthy… and Denying It To The Mentally Disabled

     Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

     The focus this time: Harvesters of death and sorrow

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Death, Rx

     Euthanasia by means of ripping organs for the condemned bodies has become so normalized, that it’ll be considered malpractice to not kill.

“Now, organ harvesting after euthanasia has become so normalized within the medical intellegentsia, that an American Medical Association publication, JAMA Surgery, had a letter debate — not about the propriety of killing and harvesting, but about whether the kill should begin at home or in a hospital.

“Two doctors say that ‘organ donation after euthanasia starting at home’ (ODEH) is the way to go:

‘The patient is only sedated at home, which marks the start of euthanasia in legal terms but is medically only intended to remove consciousness while vital functions are maintained and secured. Coma induction and the start of the agonal phase [killing] subsequently take place in the intensive care unit after farewells at home and transportation [to the hospital].’

“Their debaters says, no, start the homicides in the hospital:

“‘A guideline for ODEH should be developed, including instructions for physicians on how to act if the condition of the patient deteriorates during transport. In the ODEH case presented by Mulder and Sonneveld, noradrena line was given to maintain adequate blood pressure during transport to the hospital. This could be interpreted as violation of an important principle of organ donation after euthanasia, namely that the euthanasia and organ donationshould be at all times handled as 2 separate entities.’

Shoelaces Of Wokeness

Mind Your Own Business Act: Federal Government Wades Into The Woke Work Wars

     The corporate world has increasingly been not only taken over by wokeness, but become some the biggest proselytizers of wokeness. This has led to the situation where many on the Left—who typically love state control of the economy to some degree—are championing large mega-corporations being allowed to do as they will, while many on the Right—who typically oppose odorous regulation and taxation of businesses—now champion the Federal government controlling what corporations can say or support. Such is the case with the “Mind Your Own Business Act of 2021” introduced by Sen. Marco Rubio (R – FL), which allows stockholders to sue companies who put wokeness before profit. Senate Bill 2829 reads, in part:

“(3) COVERED CLAIM.—The term ‘covered claim’—

“(A) means any single cause of action that—

“(i) asserts a claim for breach of fiduciary duty owed by any corporate defendant to the applicable issuer (or the shareholders of the applicable issuer) resulting from material action by any covered corporate actor with respect to the applicable issuer—

“(I) that is taken primarily in response to a law (including a regulation) that is enacted by a State, or a bill that is introduced in the legislature of a State or policy otherwise publicly proposed by an elected official of a State, which shall include if such action includes any prohibition of business within that State by an issuer, whether with respect to business services or travel to, or major events in, that State, that is facially unrelated to the pecuniary interest of the applicable issuer, which shall presumptively include if the law bill, or policy would modify, establish, or create a law relating to—

“(aa) the manner in which elections are conducted in the State;

“(bb) protecting religious freedom; or

“(cc) limiting the availability of services that include the abortion of unborn children;

“(II) to prohibit the sale of goods or services by any covered corporate actor with respect to the applicable issuer to customers who operate in an industry with which the issuer engages in such business primarily on the basis of a characteristic of that industry that is facially unrelated to the pecuniary interest of the applicable issuer;

“(III) to promote a covered divisive concept; or

“(IV) for which the reasoning publicly presented by any covered corporate actor with respect to the applicable issuer as—

“(aa) any basis for such action promotes a covered divisive concept; or

“(bb) the primary basis for such action is facially unrelated to the pecuniary interest of the applicable issuer, which shall presumptively include any reference to diversity, equity, or inclusion with respect to the composition of the workforce, management, or board of directors of the issuer or society in general; and

“(ii) is brought by a covered shareholder as—

“(I) a direct action; or

“(II) a derivative action or proceeding brought on behalf of the applicable issuer

     Minority stockholders being able to to sue to make companies adhere to their fiduciary duties is nothing new, but this goes far beyond what we have now. Admittedly, unlike the many bills to prohibit the teaching of Critical Race Theory, this bill seems more performative than substantive.

     While some may like the direct assault on companies that they hate, they should ask themselves if they would be willing to allow this mechanism of attack be used against their businesses or businesses they support?

Genderfae or Genderfloret

     You’re not really woke unless you understand the difference between being “genderfae” and “genderfloret”.

     The latest edition of the Newspeak Dictionary is even stupider than even Orwell could imagine.

Firing Line Friday: Can New York City Govern Itself?

     In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

     Perhaps the answer is that it can for brief periods be less ungoverned, but the question of if New York City can be governed is an old one, and one discussed by William F. Buckley and then new Mayor Ed Koch.

Quick Takes – Corona-chan Madness in Australia: Door To Door Interrogation; Choking The Maskless; Firing On Protestors

     Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

     The focus this time: Once a penal colony; still a penal colony

     First, a little disturbing panopticon down under:

     Carrying on…

     When a digital panopticon isn’t enough, you go door to door interrogating people about potential protests against the state.

“A trio of Australian police officers visited a man claiming they are doing ‘welfare checks’ to ask residents if they plan on participating in the ongoing protests against COVID-19 mitigation efforts. The man in this video was asked if he has plans or if he knows anyone who has plans to protest and if he has participated in protests in the past.”

Open Advocation Of Eco-Terrorism

     Environmental extremists often gravitate towards literal acts of terrorism. Their thugishness is well known, but increasingly is become almost acceptable to advocate and support, as the New Yorker seems to do with this little bit of normalization by podcast and a friendly chat with an eco-terrorist who wrote about how to literally blow up literal pipelines.

     It’s called “intelligent sabotage”.

     If you think this “green terrorism” is still fringe, remember that Biden nominated a supporter of such terrorism to run the Bureau of Land Management.

When Mayors Go Woke

     At the 89th Annual Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, a resolution was passed to support racism in K-12 public education in the name of anti-racism, specifically Critical Race Theory. The resolution was sponsored by the mayors of Louisville, KY, Boise, ID, Chicago, IL, and Portland OR.
