In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.
The question of whether restricting certain books in schools or libraries has opinions ranging from it being censorship of “banned books” to common sense curation, especially when it comes to children. It was no different half-a-century ago when the shoe was in on the other foot when Lino Lipinsky, June Jordan, Jonathan Kaufman, Ned Potter, Harriet F. Pilpel, and William F. Buckley, Jr. debated if books like “Little Black Sambo” should be on library shelves.
Until next Friday.
