Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
The focus this time: Colleges are strange, and what is taught can be stranger
First, a little mood music:
Carrying on…

Can’t teach indoctrinate if you’ve not been taught indoctrinated yourself, right?
“At least three public universities in Louisiana require aspiring teachers to take ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ courses, a conservative think tank recently reported.
“One university told The College Fix it has modified its DEI course following the report. Another university acknowledged the DEI-focus of its course, but said it has not made any changes.
“The Goldwater Institute’s May report states that ‘At least three public institutions—University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of Louisiana at Monroe, and McNeese State University—require students in certain degree programs such as education to take DEI courses simply to graduate.’
“A fellow at the institute and the report’s author, Tim Minella, told The Fix he doesn’t believe students should be ‘forced’ to spend time and tuition money on DEI courses that intend to ‘indoctrinate rather than educate.’
“At the University of Louisiana at Monroe, students majoring in Elementary Education must take a course titled ‘Educational Foundations for Diverse Learning Environments.’ It ‘provides multicultural insight to support the educational needs of diverse students in their learning environment,’ according to the report.”

Student governments are just as Leftist as they ever were.
“Emory University students recently voted in overwhelming support of restoring Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs at the Atlanta, Georgia institution—though just 17.6 percent of eligible undergraduates participated in the referendum.
“Before the vote, Emory’s Student Government Association (SGA) actively promoted the pro-DEI referendum. An Oct. 16 Instagram post urged students to ‘SPEAK UP & VOTE FOR DEI AND STUDENT PROTECTION,’ encouraging student organizations to repost the flyer and rally their members to vote.
“Of the 1,428 students who cast ballots between Oct. 20 and Oct. 23, a striking 89.3 percent—or 1,275 students—voted in favor of Resolution 59s101, which called on Emory to reinstate DEI programs that the university discontinued in September. Only 135 students (9.5 percent) voted against the measure, while 16 abstained, according to The Emory Wheel.
“The resolution demands that Emory ‘restore and protect diversity, equity, and inclusion offices and initiatives campuswide’ and preserve existing course offerings and core curriculum requirements that advance ‘equity and multi-cultural understanding.’”

One locker room for everyone, at the University of California, Davis.
“The University of California, Davis, is remodeling the locker rooms in its recreation center. These new ‘universal locker rooms’ will be ‘inclusive of members with disabilities and members of all gender identities’ and will replace the rec center’s current, sex-segregated ones.
“A floor plan on the university’s website shows that there will still be sex-segregated toilet areas. Men and women, however, will share the same shower and changing spaces. The locker room will also include ‘individual private cabanas with floor-to-ceiling doors, shower and changing area; individual private changing rooms with floor-to-ceiling doors and seating; individual private toilet rooms with floor-to-ceiling doors; vanity areas; and locker rentals and day-use lockers.’
