Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
The focus this time: They just don’t seem to understand how ridiculous they look to those outside their bubble.
First, a little mood music:
Carrying on…
Not only is Shakespeare getting a trigger warning at the University of West England… their getting 220 trigger warnings!
“Drama students are being warned of suicide in Romeo and Juliet after a university put more than 200 trigger warnings on works of Shakespeare.
“The University of the West of England (UWE) has issued warnings for ‘blood’ and ‘psychological trauma’ in Macbeth as well as ‘storms’ and ‘extreme weather’ in The Tempest.
“One theatre show of the shipwreck play was highlighted for containing the ‘popping of balloons’.
“A total of 220 warnings were added to the Bard’s works and adaptations on stage and screen, which included depictions on the BBC and ITV, as reported by The Sun.
“For Macbeth, in which a Scottish general overthrows the King by murdering him, there are warnings for murder, suicide, violence, knives and family trauma.”
At the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, there will now be a mandatory class on “race, power, and justice”.
“The University of Minnesota Twin Cities has proposed a revised general education program that requires students to take a “Race, Power, and Justice” course and choose a focus area in equity, environment, civic life, or wellbeing.
“A committee of faculty, students, and advisors wrote the proposed revisions at the request of the provost and the university’s education policy committee.
“A university spokesman said ‘University Governance‘”’ will review the proposal ‘this spring.’”
Sometimes a university is too open about their wokeness, like how they believe that deadlines oppress minority students at North Dakota State University.
“Minorities do best without ‘rigid rules,’ ‘deadlines for assignments and exams,’ and graded homework according to a since-deleted ‘diversity’ page for North Dakota State University’s engineering department.
“The ‘supporting diversity’ page for the engineering department draws from several resources on ‘grading for equity’ and ‘culturally responsive teaching.’ However, the page has since been removed following College Fix inquiries and executive orders from President Donald Trump relating to ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion.’
“It now returns an ‘Error 404 page.’ The page appears to have disappeared around late January or the first week of February”
