If a biological male can with first prize in a women’s sporting contest, then why can’t a biological mammal be named “Bird of the Year 2021”?
“The bat is getting its due — at the expense of birds.
“New Zealand has named the bat their ‘Bird of the Year,’ despite the now-controversial fact that bats are not of the avian family.
“Bats are regarded as New Zealand’s only native land mammal, and under threat of extinction — as well as public scrutiny as of late due to its potential link to the initial coronavirus outbreak in 2020.
“It’s the first time a non-bird has been honored with the award, angering some birders who claim the mammalian animal stole the election from the rightful Aves class.
“Approximately 7,000 voters favored the bat against some 200 New Zealand-native species of bird.
“The Oceanic nation crowned the species the ‘long-tailed bird’ or pekapeka-tou-roa. The precious bat, hardly bigger than a thumb when fully grown, is one of the rarest mammals in the world.
“The online poll drew in a total of 58,000 votes — the most to participate in the contest in its 16-year run. Organizers said the bat’s inclusion is part of a campaign to promote the critically endangered animal, which receives far less attention than birds overall.”
Transgenderism already established that genetics doesn’t matter. This is its logical outcome.
