With all the Social Justice warriors, eco-zealots, Antifa, โtwould seem that Portland is the center of madness. Is there a reason for this? In all seriousness, YES.
This was supposed to be a thread about the pathology of fear, but while researching that, I came across a stat that sent me down a rabbit hole. pic.twitter.com/05NX1a2PCA

Iโve seen several reporters that have been on the ground for the riots in Portland mention how unwell the rioters look.
Hereโs an example: https://t.co/82v6U6M1fs— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
As a behavioral neurologist, I would like to examine some of the factors that I believe are contributing to the epidemic that is playing out across the country, particularly in Portland.

A few years ago, I observed that those with what some refer to as โTrump Derangement Syndromeโ and Antifa members have similar behaviors to young children/teens whose prefrontal cortex is not fully developed.

The prefrontal cortex is responsible for:
– reasoning
– logic
– problem solving
– planning
– memory
– focus and attention
– developing and carrying out goals
– impulse control and
– personality development— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
The prefrontal cortex is not fully mature until between the ages of 21-30. A behavior also associated with an immature prefrontal cortex is believing everyone thinks, believes and behaves the way you do (i.e. egocentrism).

Those affected can be hyper emotional while also lacking empathy for others that they perceive as adversaries (those that attack their ego or identity).

For the last several years, Oregon has consistently ranked one of the worst states for mental health in the country.
Teens and young adults have been particularly affected (most rioters seem to fall into this age group).— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
According to the 2017 Oregon Healthy Teen Survey:
โMore than 40% pf students in both grades surveyed did not meet the stateโs benchmark for coping ability. About a third said they felt so sad and hopeless, they had stopped doing normal activities…

…up to 18% said they had contemplated suicide.โ https://t.co/kWsFdQHhbv

The nonprofit group Mental Health America recently ranked Oregon worst in the country for mental illness rates and access to help for it. The study says that Oregon has some of the worst rates for homelessness, high school graduations and child abuse. https://t.co/qrg9ygoulC

Itโs also during this crucial development period for the prefrontal cortex that addictions become easiest to develop.
Oregon also has some of the highest rates of addiction in the country. https://t.co/pTEibsAf1Q pic.twitter.com/SusFAw6Ciw— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
Often, mental illness and drug use go together. Those with mental illness often self-medicate and drug use during the teen/young adult years leads to irreversible prefrontal cortex damage which leads to mental illness.

Adding to this, young adults today grew up in the aftermath of 9/11 and during the economic stress of the Great Recession.
Oregon seemed to be particularly hard hit by the economic downturn. pic.twitter.com/BGs1LNITsl— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020

In addition to the daily stresses that living below the poverty level during times of geopolitical uncertainty, young adults have been subjected to stress from extremist climate change activists. https://t.co/ikll57I7MJ

Growing up in an unstable home where your basic needs arenโt met in a world where terrorists can strike at any moment while saddled with the crippling fear that the world is going to end at any moment, itโs not surprising that we are seeing such extreme, deranged behaviors.
— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
This behavior is then reinforced by their peer groups and through social media, where they are given the approval and attention they so desperately crave.
— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
Schools, which have become indoctrination factories, (critical thinking actually helps develop the prefrontal cortex) are designed to pull children away from traditional family structures and values, thereby reinforcing deviant and activist lifestyles.

So what do we do with this information?
These people cannot be reasoned with.
They do not respond to logic.
Their fear is overriding their ability to think rationally regardless of the overwhelming information that contradicts their belief system.— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
Hold strong.
Trust God.
And like Paulina Plaksej, refuse to go over the cliff with the rest of humanity. #GodWins— ๐บ๐ธ SheNerd ๐ (@shnerdly) September 5, 2020
