Quick Takes – Fragile Youth: Happy Badges; Pronoun Stickers; Triggering Textbooks

     Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

     The focus this time: Gotta protect those emotionally fragile feelings!

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

     Once upon a time, a university student was an adult who was emotionally mature. Now, they need “happy badges” provided by a “happiness tsar”…

“Students feeling anxious in the approach to exam season will be given ‘happy badges’ by Britain’s first university ‘happiness tsar’.

“The University of Buckingham said the system will be led by Cherry Coombe, whose role is to ‘help improve the working and learning environment’ by promoting mental well-being.

“The badges, which look like traditional prefect badges but have the word ‘happiness’ written in gold, have so far been awarded to students who took part in a local parade through Buckingham and to staff whose actions ‘improved the work environment’.”

Queering Ecology

     The Eugene Lang College is offering a course on “Queer Ecologies“. The course summary is:

“This course will address the interdisciplinary constellation of practices that aim, in different ways, to disrupt prevailing heterosexist discursive and institutional articulations of sexuality and nature, and also to reimagine evolutionary processes, ecological interactions, and environmental politics in light of queer theory. Drawing from traditions as diverse as evolutionary biology, LGBTQ+ movements, feminist science studies, and environmental justice, this course will highlight the complexity of contemporary biopolitics, draw important connections between the material and cultural dimensions of environmental issues, and examine the ways in which sex and nature are understood in light of multiple trajectories of power and matter.”

     Ecology, as a science, is about what is, and not about delusions of queer theory. This is about subordination of science (abet a “soft science” vis à vis the physical sciences) to religious notions of queer theory. To wit: Queer theory, as it is with Leftist doctrine in general, is presumed to be correct, and science is allowed so far that it doesn’t contradict that, for it if does, than the science must be considered wrong in some fashion.

     Not all species are sexually dimorphic and reproduce through a congress of the two sexes. Many lower species, for example are hermaphroditic. However, most higher animals (and many plants) are indeed sexually dimorphic and reproduce through a congress of some sort of the two sexes, including human beings. Applying “queer theory” and misused understandings of lower life-forms, as well as how some plants utilize other species such as bees as vectors of reproduction, does nothing to change the sheer fact that human beings are sexually dimorphic and reproduce through a congress of the two sexes.

     Yet the fools who take this class will most likely consider themselves “educated” after their indoctrination is yet another condemnation of modern academia.

9th Circuit Effectively Bans New Semi-Auto Handguns

     Recently, the California state Supreme Court ruled that an impossible to follow gun law, which required that all new guns be equipped with “stamping” technology that does not actually exist, must be followed because complying with it is impossible. Now the 9th Circuit has declared that banning all new semi-auto handguns is spiffy because there are still plenty of used guns around!

“A California requirement that new models of semi-automatic handguns stamp identifying information on bullet casings is a ‘real-world solution’ to help solve gun crimes, a divided U.S. appeals court said Friday in a decision that upheld the novel law.

“The stamping requirement and two measures intended to make guns safer did not violate the 2nd Amendment because they left plenty of firearms for sale in California and were reasonable to further the state’s goal of keeping people safe, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said in a 2-1 decision.”

     They went on to say that the law just stops people from getting the gun they want, but because there are other model guns available, their is no 2nd Amendment violation. What other right enumerated in the Bill of Rights allows for violation just because that violation isn’t absolute?

     A partial infringement is still an infringement and in violation of the plain text of the 2nd Amendments declaration that the right “shall not be infringed”.

Nicaraguan Violence & Venezuelan Breaking Points

     Demonstrating in Nicaragua that when the going gets tough for Communists, the Communists get tough on the people—with violence. Not only is Nicaraguan dictator Daniel Ortega happily massacring dozens at a time, but he has gone so far as to make the Catholic church an enemy. Seriously, how far to the Left do you have to be for the Catholic church in Latin America to despise you? It has gotten so bad, that even the European Union is recognizing that this horror needs to stop.

     Demonstrating that a slower more painful horror is an alternative, Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela has left the people so starved they are butchering donkeys for food. Further demonstrating the bounty of socialism, public transportation has all but disappeared with “dog carts” filling in therefore.

     With inflation reaching one million percent, Venezuelans will do anything to escape, even if it means becoming victims of human trafficking.   Indeed the physical and economic damage socialism reaps is nothing compared to the human cost, which is not so easily repaired.

     Ignoring the fact that America is a Western civilization whose basis is Western Civiliation, which just so happens to be filled with Whites, ‘twould seem that such mythology is inherently less worthy due to Whiteness…

“Hobart and William Smith Colleges is offering a course next year to teach students how ‘objectivity’ and ‘meritocracy’ function as ‘white mythologies.’

“‘White Mythologies: Objectivity, Meritocracy, and Other Social Constructions’ is a sophomore-level course taught by Kendralin Freeman and Jason Rodriguez, who are sociology and anthropology professors, respectively.

“‘This course explores the history and ongoing manifestations of “white mythologies”—long-standing, often implicit views about the place of White, male, Euro-American subjects as the norm,’ explains the course description, which adds that students will also ‘explore how systematic logics that position “the West” and “whiteness” as the ideal manifest through such social constructions as objectivity, meritocracy, and race.'”

What Does Citizenship Mean When Non-Citizens Can Outvote You?

     California has for some time now demonstrated themselves to be hell bent on destroying any notion of citizenship in any way that matters. Not only may foreign nationals illegally in this country can practice law in California courts, but there are pushed to allow the same to sit in juries in judgment of American citizens and even to run for office.

     But now San Francisco (of course), has dispensed with the need to be a citizen in order to vote in some elections.

“In the November 2016 election, San Francisco voters passed Proposition N, Non-Citizen Voting in School Board Elections, by a vote of 54% to 46%.

“Proposition N is a Charter amendment that extends the voting rights in San Francisco School Board elections to non-citizen residents of San Francisco who are of legal voting age, not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction, and who are parents, legal guardians, or legally recognized caregivers of children under the age of 19 living in San Francisco.

“In May 2018, the Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance amending the Municipal Elections Code to implement Proposition N by requiring the Department of Elections to develop a non-citizen voter registration form and other documents related to non-citizen voting in School Board elections. The ordinance also requires a notice (provided below) on non-citizen voter materials that any information provided to the Department may be obtained by the federal government.

“Non-citizen voting will be available at the next election for members of the Board of Education, scheduled for November 6, 2018, and at every Board of Education election until November 2022. After the November 2022 election, the opportunity for non-citizens to vote in School Board elections will expire unless the Board of Supervisors adopts an ordinance allowing it to continue.”

     Now, American children in San Francisco are not only every other citizen’s child, but now are under the aegis of foreign nationals, including those who are not present in the country legally.

Modern College Class Overthrowing the Government “Legally”

     The Eugene Lang College has a class wherein the students not only learn about how film can be used to undermine America, but actually be forced to participate in the same! From the course summary:

“This course will be on the one hand a class on how to contribute with creative means to meaningful political change, and on the other a production class on making a web show about taking a class on how to contribute with creative means to meaningful political change. The class will be co-taught by Screen Studies Professor Caveh Zahedi and Yes Men co-founder Jacques Servin. It will do two things: on the one hand, it will serve as a laboratory of ideas on how best to transform our country from the plutocracy it has become into a true democracy using the creative skills we happen to have on hand as artists, filmmakers, etc.; and on the other hand, it will be a class on producing and using media (in this case, a show about the class) in order to help disseminate mobilizing ideas—in this case, not only the specific change-oriented creative ideas that arise, but the more powerful mobilizing idea that anyone can use whatever skills happen to be on hand to resist tyranny and effect positive change. Students will be required to participate as actors, as crew, and as editors. If anyone is uncomfortable with the idea of being both in front of and behind the camera, then this course is not for you! Auditions will be held. Interested students should email Professor Caveh Zahedi, zahedic@newschool.edu with any questions.”

     All you really need to know about film being used to undermine America you can learn from actual Hollywood history and actual Hollywood films.

     Unsurprisingly, films intended to propagandize against purportedly evil regimes, such as “Battleship Potemkin“, are made by regimes that have already overthrown the old order. If one was truly oppressed, they wouldn’t be able to make major films calling for the overthrow of the current state of affairs, let alone have silly little classes whining about it.
