Orwellian Mathematics

In the novel “1984”, a character declared that sometimes two plus two equaled five, sometimes two plus two equaled three, and sometimes it is both at the same time.

But there’s no way in real life that anyone would argue that you could get two different results that are equally valid from the same equation, right?

     About that…

Highlighting the Nonsense of Gender Pronoun Madness

The brave new rules of gender pronouns are difficult for native English speakers, so imagine just how maddening it would it be for someone who is just trying to learn English.

Rape Gang Privilege

Because certain proscribed “truths” that individuals who happen to be of [REDACTED] race and [REDACTED] faith must be assumed more innocent than others… regardless of the damage to justice, many, many, many, many, examples of minors have been sacrificed upon the alter of political correctness…

It is one thing to try to dispel unfounded racist stereotypes.

It is another thing to go out of your way to cover up actual pimping out of underage girls because the perpetrators where of the institutionally privileged [REDACTED] race and institutionally privileged [REDACTED] faith.

Yet… far too many police in the U.K. have sided with Political Correctness over any sane person’s idea of “justice”. But you know things are bad when even the far Left BBC admits that rape victims were kicked to the curb in order to protect their evil handlers due to the “problems” that would arise be prosecuting those of a [REDACTED] race and [REDACTED] faith.

“So what went wrong? As the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham put it, there was an institutional mindset in which young, vulnerable girls were not seen as the victims but as the problem.

“They were children in our care. Children some of those in authority labelled as prostitutes and promiscuous. Children who it was said had chosen to be exploited.

“And the perpetrators were all from an ethnic minority which the authorities recognised had itself been a victim of prejudice and racism.

“However demanding and difficult they may be, the welfare of children must always come first.”

Firing Line Friday: Capital Punishment (1968)

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

Previously, the question of Capital Punishment with Steve Allen was examined previously, but just two year after, the examination of the question of capital punishment is again examined with Truman Capote.

Quick Takes – Enemies of Academic Wokeness: Ancient Anglo-Saxons; Genocide Beneficiaries; Mathematics

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Mad as a bag of ferrets.

First, a little unwoke science lesson:

     Carrying on…

The English language derives primarily (abet with Old Norse and a millennium of other influences) from the language of the Anglo-Saxon people, and many rights either derive directly from those first millennium times—such as the right of the free to personal arms—or from asserting rights in the resistance against the “Norman Yoke”. Not surprising that woke academics dislike that

“Anglo-Saxon traditionally refers to groups from Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands who settled in Britain at the end of Roman rule.

“However, early medieval England specialist Mary Rambaran-Olm, an independent scholar and author, claimed the term is used by white supremacists to refer to white British people and should be banned.

“The academic – raised in Canada and now based in Ireland – says previous objections to the term Dark Ages sets a precedent.

“She told The Times: ‘Generally, white supremacists use the term to make some sort of connection to their heritage (which is inaccurate) or to make associations with ‘whiteness’ but they also habitually misuse it to try and connect themselves to a warrior past.’”

However, some others are not impressed…

“Tom Holland, author of books including Athelstan: The Making of England, said the term was ‘inextricably bound up with the claim by Alfred … to rule as a shared Anglian-Saxon identity’.

“’Scholars must be free to use it,’ he said.

“In a tweet, he wrote of the idea to ditch the term Anglo-Saxon: ‘Mad as a bag of ferrets, as they say in Deira [a former kingdom].’”

Los Angeles To Go Full-In With Racial Equity

Disparate impact is the purported idea that any inequality of results is due to nefarious structures of oppression, and that in order to achieve “equity”, “justice” demands not that there be an equality of results, but rather an equality of civic power which requires that “privileged” groups must be made worse off than the “oppressed” groups, materially, legally, and spiritually.

This Orwellian, in regards to “equity” as it applies to race, has come to the City of (Fallen) Angels has gone full IngSoc.

“The Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday, Dec. 10 to create an Office of Racial Equity, which will be tasked with examining economic disparities among groups of Angelenos and advising the council on possible solutions.

“Councilmen Herb Wesson, Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Mitch O’Farrell came up with the idea to create the office and a Racial Equity Advisory Committee.

“’We see inequity all the time, it comes to us … we see testimony about it all the time,’ Harris-Dawson said. ‘It was Council President Wesson that said, “We need to have a family meeting and talk about this.”’

“The City Council voted unanimously, 14-0, to create the office, which will be in charge of monitoring data through a ‘racial equity impact tool,’ creating ideas for civic engagement, examining government policies that could affect certain groups, and providing a report on inequities throughout the city.”

Firing Line Friday: Capital Punishment (1966)

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

The history of Capital Punishment in the United States has been one that is quite undulating in the past half-century, not only from the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily suspending executions to the not long after legal execution of Gary Gilmore in Utah, but also to the varying laws at state level and the willingness to execute convicted criminals, be that due to legislative acts, gubernatorial acts of clemency, or such judicial shenanigans of the Rose Byrd court. Interesting then, to examine that mindset from the early days of “Firing Line” back from 1966, especially when it comes from… Steve Allen.

Quick Takes – Euthanasia in Killer Canada: Killing Without Consent; Alzheimer’s Society Against Those With Alzheimer’s; From Hospice To Execution

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Oh, Canada!

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Death, Rx

Remember when Euthanasia was billed as a way for those with a terminal disease to “die with dignity” and not a license to kill patients who have changed their mind and don’t want to die after all.

     Yeah, about that

“The advance assisted death directed would have to be authorized by the patient while they are still mentally able to decide. However, family members who disagree with their loved one’s decision would ‘not have a veto,’ a committee member said at the meeting. Opponents of the measure also say that if someone were to change their mind, they could have no way of stopping their own death.

“In the event a person suffers from a disease where they could lose their decision-making abilities, the Canadian panel recommended that patients formally designate a third party while they are still mentally capacitated who would inform doctors of the existence of a prior consent to be euthanized. The third party authorization would be kept in a government registry.

“That third party would represent the patient should they lose their faculties due to diseases like Alzheimer’s or dementia, but the final decision to euthanize the patient would rest in the hands of a physician.”
