Firing Line Friday: How the Vietnam War Was Lost

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

With the humiliated disaster in Afghanistan, let us look back on how another war was lost.   William F. Buckley, Jr. and former South Vietnamese Vice-President Nguyen Cao Ky discuss how the Vietnam War was lost.

Pledging Allegiance To The Queers

I wonder how many of those parents who are happy that in-person learning is coming back to schools when they find out that teachers are having students pledge allegiance to the “inclusive” LGBTQ&c. pride flag and even “pledge allegiance to the queers”?

Flag shenanigans in schools isn’t anything new, but sooner or later they will start punishing students for not enthusiastically pledging themselves to the “inclusive pride flag” (or future even more inclusive pride flag) enough.

Quick Takes – Racial Segregation in Academia: Parent-Teach Dialogue Sessions; Racial Affinity Housing; Internships

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Your kind don’t belong here…

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Elite education is segregated again, but this time it’s woke so it’s spiffy and stuff…

“Brentwood School was in the national news a couple years ago because a female teacher was accused of sexually preying on male students.

“Now the elite private school in Los Angeles, with a reported tuition of nearly $38,000, is bragging about something it should also be ashamed of: racial segregation.

“It’s not just separating the races from each other at the same ‘Dialogue & Community-Building Sessions,’ part of its yearlong initiative on diversity, equity and inclusion that started last month.

“Brentwood is hosting completely different virtual meetings by race and ethnicity over the next two months.

“They start later today with six meetings for faculty, staff and ‘parents & families.’ Whites and blacks have their own meeting in each cohort. Parents and families for ‘Hispanic & Latinx’ (woke whitespeak for Latino) and ‘Asian & Asian American follow on Wednesday.”

Equity And Political Correctness Come To The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have decided that the best way to control and prevent disease is… wokeness. Oh, and it’s very, very intersectional.

Apparently, healthcare isn’t equitable if you use doubleplus ungood words, or even just perpetuate “violence” with words.

And, of course, you are supposed to use preferred terms and pronouns based on… criminality?

Tyger Tyger Raping Bright

Apparently an unwoke story about a tiger enjoying a tea part causes rape. So what is this horrible story about?

“It may have delighted generations of children, but The Tiger Who Came To Tea reinforces gender inequality which causes violence against women and girls, a campaigner said yesterday.

“Rachel Adamson, of Zero Tolerance, a charity working to end men’s violence against women, said Judith Kerr’s 1968 classic was ‘problematic’ because of its ‘old fashioned’ portrayal of women and family dynamics.

“The book sees an uninvited tiger join a young girl and her mother for tea before eating all the food in the house, drinking everything, running the taps dry and leaving.

“The girl’s father then comes home and takes her and her mother to a cafe.

“Miss Adamson did not call for the book to be banned but said it could be used to ‘raise a conversation’ in nurseries.”

Scottish Rape Crisis Center To Rape Victims: The Real Evil Here Is Your Transphobia

Most people understand that when a woman is raped by a man, they might be frightened of being in a vulnerable position when men are around. The head of Scotland’s biggest rape crisis center thinks that women who were raped by someone with a penis and don’t want to be around someone who has a penis are the real monsters here because it’s transphobic to fear being raped by a “woman” with a penis.

“THE head of one of Scotland’s biggest rape crisis centres has suggested ‘bigoted’ rape survivors should be re-educated about transgender rights as part of recovering from their trauma.

“Mridul Wadhwa, a transgender woman [sic], said people would not truly recover unless they addressed their ‘unacceptable beliefs’ because ‘therapy is political’.

“She [sic] said: ‘We will work with you… but please expect to be challenged on your prejudices.’

“The comments imply rape survivors may be treated differently according to their political views.”
