California’s Unfree Market Medicine

The beauty of a free market is that goods and services are exchanged with mutual benefit to both parties, which leads to efficiency, lower cost, and better options. Because this produces wealth, this leads to an ability to help those who don’t have the financial needs to cover necessities.

However, California is applying the alleged “logic” of rent control to… healthcare.

“In one of the most aggressive efforts in the nation to curb soaring healthcare spending, a new California measure would put the state in charge of setting prices for hospital stays, doctor’s visits and most other medical services covered by commercial insurers.

“…

“The measure, which will be unveiled at a news conference Monday, would establish a commission that would set rates for healthcare services based off what the government pays for such services under Medicare.

“The commission, which would be an independent state entity, would determine the rates for all services covered by commercial health plans, including those offered by employers to their workers and those sold in the individual marketplace. Public health programs, including Medicare and Medicaid, would not be affected by those price caps.”

If you set rates below the value of the services provided, people will stop providing those services, by either moving out of state or refusing to do business in California.

Socialized Healthcare: Free To Die

As has become painfully obvious, “free” healthcare from the government just means that you are “free” to get whatever the state deems you worthy to receive. If they deem you ought to die, they’ll provide that free of charge.

Case in point from, naturally, Canada:

“A landmark lawsuit has been filed by an Ontario man suffering from an incurable neurological disease. He alleges that health officials will not provide him with an assisted home care team of his choosing, instead offering, among other things, medically assisted death.”

The man is pleading with the government to provide assisting living rather than assisted homicide:

It gets worse. ‘Twould seem that perhaps the hospital is bullying him because he is standing up to him.

“‘I have been given the wrong medications, I have been provided food where I got food poisoning, I’ve had workers fall asleep in my living room, burners and appliances constantly left on, a fire, and I have been injured during exercises and transfers,’ Foley claimed. ‘When I report(ed) these things to the agency, I would not get a response.’

“…

“Foley’s lawsuit has been filed against the Victoria Hospital London Health Sciences Centre, the SW LHIN, the CILT and Ontario’s Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, demanding the right to choose his home care team. He’s also suing both Ontario and Canada’s attorneys general for offering medically-assisted death without guaranteeing Canadians the option to receive proper care if they choose life instead.

“‘Before anyone… can even be considered for assisted death, they need to have all necessary services provided to help them relieve their substantial suffering,’ [lawyer Ken] Berger said. ‘There are serious constitutional violations that we’re alleging, and we believe that the current provisions for assisted dying are unconstitutional because it doesn’t require that necessary services are put in place to relieve someone’s suffering first.'”

Quick Takes – Enemies of Feminism: Empirical Science; Viral Capitalism; Dog Shows

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Bitch Liberation Front

First, a little bit of mood music:

     Carrying on…

What is the ultimate tool of the Patriarchy™?

     Perhaps it’s empirical science?

“Four professors are warning that the ‘hegemony of meritocratic ideology’ and other manifestations of ‘masculine culture’ in engineering courses are detrimental to women.

“…

“The professors are especially concerned with how engineering courses tend to be ‘depoliticized’ compared to classes in other fields, which they contend is due in part to engineering culture’s emphasis on meritocracy and individualism.

“‘Socialization into the ideologies of meritocracy and individualism, coupled with a valorization of ‘technical’ prowess at the expense of “socially focused” work processes, depoliticizes the gendered structure of the profession,’ they write.

“The professors add that this can be problematic because ‘students learn that raising concerns about marginalization—of themselves or others—is tangential or even distracting to what counts as the “real” practical and objective work of engineering.’

“‘In its commitment to empirical science, technical thinking, merit, and individualism, engineering culture allocates what it sees as political issues, such as gender equality, to the realm of the social and subjective, therefore, off-limits,’ the paper asserts. ‘Thus, the depoliticized culture of engineering also constitutes a degendered space where issues that may be of social concern to women in science are also devalued and marginalized.'”

Republicans Should Be Hitting The Panic Button

Since November 2016, a clear trend has emerged from special elections, primaries, and regularly scheduled general elections: Democrats are energize, organized, and have demonstrated a capability to turn out en masse and massively narrow normal Republican margins if not outright winning seats they would never have been able to win before. Some people have seen the obvious and are telling Republicans that they ought to be terrified of the November coming fire.

Now, it has become even more clear that Republicans should be hitting the Panic Button: A Wisconsin Supreme Court election, they type of election where conservatives and Republicans usually turn out far better than Democrats and the Left, has been won by an outspoken liberal by a wide margin. How bad is it? Gov. Scott Walker is outright sounding the alarm that a Blue Wave is coming.

The veritable Brandon Finnigan, who runs the non-partisan Decision Desk HQ* and is probably one of the most informed election analysts out there, has made it very clear Republicans who aren’t hitting the panic button have their head in the sand.

Mandatory Trans in Sweden

The “trans” movement isn’t about stopping “cis-sexisst” bullying or even the freedom to be what one wants, but rather a totalitarian movement to force it on people and even make it mandatory. Case in point: Sweden.

“Sweden is on a mission to eliminate gender. It begins as early as preschool. According to the state curriculum, ‘stereotyped gender roles’ are a ‘limitation’ that children must be freed from. The New York Times reports that Swedish preschools urge their teachers and principals to ’embrace their role as social engineers, requiring them to “counteract traditional gender roles and gender patterns.”‘ If Sweden does its job right, its children will grow into adults who lump gender in with unicorns, fairies, monsters, and the bogeyman. The only problem is, unlike unicorns, gender really does exist.

“Sweden’s gender-neutral indoctrination began in 1996 when a man named Ingemar Gens, an ‘equality opportunity expert’ for his district, began to implement curriculum targeted at preschoolers. As The New York Times reports, Gens was ‘not an educator but a journalist who dabbled in anthropology and gender theory.’ His program separated boys from girls and coached them ‘in traits associated with the other gender.’ What did this look like? Well, ‘boys massaged each other’s feet. Girls were led in barefoot walks in the snow, and told to throw open the window and scream.’ So, you know, just regular boy and girl stuff.”

White Nurses Now Required to Acknowledge their “White Privilege”

Those born with the unshrivable sin of “Whiteness” must grovel by acknowledging this sin in order to work their chosen profession in an act of useless recentness. Specifically, Australian nurses are now required to announce their “White Privilege” to Aboriginal patients.

“Australian nurses and midwives are being forced to announce their ‘white privilege’ before treating Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander patients – a move which has been slammed as ‘racist to its core’.

“The term ‘white privilege’ defines the unearned social and cultural advantages awarded to people with white skin which are not enjoyed by people of colour or non-white backgrounds.

“The Nursing and Midwifery Board believes the cultural safety of Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander patients is just as important as their clinical safety.”

Medical care is medical care. Medicine is not based on culture let alone “cultural sensitivity”.

This has not gone without criticism, however.

Quick Takes – Oppression Everywhere!!1!: White Supremacist Pyramids; Inclusive Newspeak; Transmisic Microaggressions

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: It’s the little things that will drive you insane.

First, a little bit of mood music:

     Carrying on…

Do you know what not being woke leads to?

     Genocide.

“A course at Salisbury University in Maryland is using a ‘Pyramid of White Supremacy’ to help teach students about diversity and ‘cultural competence.;

“The one-credit course, ‘Diversity and the Self,’ is a required class for any student hoping to obtain an elementary education major.

“The pyramid ranks various concepts on different levels according to severity, with ‘Indifference’ forming the base of the pyramid and ‘Genocide’ residing at the top.

“‘In a pyramid, every brick depends upon the one below it for support,’ an accompanying caption explains. ‘If the bricks at the bottom are removed, the whole structure comes tumbling down.'”

Obama’s Assault on Urban, Suburban, and Rural Communities on It’s Last Breath?

…but will the death stroke be so stricken?

One of the most pernicious designs of the Obama Presidency was the “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” machinations. While it did not receive the publicity of so-many other of this efforts, it remains one of t he most fundamentally transformative… until perhaps now.

To wit: The “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” plan was to turn America into a copy of Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis“, by eliminating suburbs by effectively nationalizing zoning to fundamentally transform how people are housed in an assault on the individualistic suburbia in order to push every one into a controlled Progressive cage to emulate some “college dormvia means of declaring racism where there is none, is now defunded by Congress:

“None of the funds made available by this Act may be used by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to direct a grantee to undertake specific changes to existing zoning laws as part of carrying out the final rule entitled ‘Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing’ … or the notice entitled ‘Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Assessment Tool’. . .”

Congress has done it’s part. Now it is up to HUD Secretary Ben Carson of the Trump Administration to deliver the fatal blow:

“Congress has done its job. Now it is up to the Trump administration with Carson in the lead to rescind this regulation with the window of opportunity Congress has given, so that no administration ever again attempts to take over local governments across the country.”
