Quick Takes – Educational Divestment, Educational Queer Agriculture, Educational Gay Bashing

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: We don’t need no education!

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Once a bastion of learning, college have quickly devolved into indoctrination centers where the lunatics run the asylum.

“The University of California Student Association board – which represents all 233,000 students enrolled in the UC system’s 10 campuses – approved a resolution on Sunday that calls on the system’s leaders to financially divest from the United States.

“The measure cited alleged human rights violations by America such as drone strikes that have killed civilians, and claimed the country’s criminal justice system is racist, among other accusations.

“The ‘Resolution Toward Socially Responsible Investment at the University of California’ passed with an overwhelming majority vote of 11-1-3.”

If they can divest from America, can America divest from them?

But surely, college are teaching useful information that students can apply in the real world?

     Nope.

They are focused on “Queering Agriculture“:

“So why queer agriculture?  This seems like an odd question but becomes more obvious with research and analysis. This talk highlights vital ways queering and trans-ing ideas and practices of agriculture are necessary for more sustainable, sovereign, and equitable food systems for the creatures and systems involved in systemic reproductions that feed humans and other creatures. Since agriculture is literally the backbone of economics, politics, and ‘civilized’ life as we know it, and the manipulation of reproduction and sexuality are a foundation of agriculture, it is absolutely crucial queer and transgender studies begin to deal more seriously with the subject of agriculture. This talk highlights the normative ways that popular culture, food activism, and government regulations have framed sustainable food systems in the United States. By focusing on popular culture representations and government legislation since 9/11, it will become clearer how the growing popularity of sustainable food is laden with anthroheterocentric assumptions of the ‘good life’ coupled with idealized images and ideas of the American farm, and gender, radicalized  and normative standards of health, family, and nation.”

     Sigh.

At least the LGBTQ&c. crowd have a “safe space”

     …or not:

“[T]he appropriation of black women by white gay men is prevalent within the LGBTI scene and community.

‘This may be manifested in the emulation of the mannerisms, language (particularly AAVE- African American Vernacular English) and phrases that can be attributed to black women. White gay men may often assert that they are “strong black women” or have an “inner black woman”,’ they said.

“‘White gay men are the dominant demographic within the LGBT community, and they benefit from both white privilege and male privilege.'”

Sooner or later, we’ll have a single left-handed queer trans dwarf Inuit womyn with a stutter lecturing literally everyone else about how they are a privileged oppressor…
